....just for the record: Dimes in the jaramazing Blues rhythm, and the drum-work is perfect. The voice of Brian is really cool, such a deep sound...awesome song.

Thanks Brett! In thinking about what Le Setz has said about the difficulty in playing the noir stuff on the Christmas tour, I will be very curious to see how they'll incorporate what songs from the new record into the festivities. I think Gimme Some Rhythm Daddy would be a no-brainer - nice and upbeat. It'd be kinda cool to see them open with two or three (or ten ) songs from Lonely Ave, right off the bat, then pull away all the noiry set decoration for a big ol' Christmas party.... but I guess the anticipation and wondering is part of the fun!!

I'm totally in love with Kiss me deadly, an ultimate classic in every level. I've played it every day several times since I got the cd. Thanks, Brian!

For me Dead Man Incorperated just about gets the nod as best song on the album. Dimes In A Jar though sounds like a bonus track, or something that would have fitted better on an album like 13. Still, a great album, its up there with Slinger and Dirty Boogie for me.

I've listened to the CD twice now in my car and I'd have to say 'Mr Jazzer goes Surfing' grabs me each time. I like the whole CD generally but I honestly don't think he's going to get any new fans with it.

Been have'in a wee listen for over a week now. I think that the imput that Mr Comstock has done, is a huge bonus,as to the way we hear this cd. Great stuff. Dead man, Give me some and Elenor are great. Surfdog sent me the Lp/ with cd, this is dreadful, it pops and clicks on every track! Must have a dud! Just awaiting the collectors pack, to arrive. Took cd to my mates, with the big hi-fi. His coment was......."very good cd!" Just a pity my Lp, is a let down. Any one pick up, that Brian uses the frase " my friend" on 3 tracks? WEE MARK.

Unrelated but reminded me for some reason:
In King of the Whole Damn World, Eddie Nichols says "we're knockin' out windows, we're tearin' down doors." In Switchblade 327 is the line, "when they get drunk they fight all night."
It makes me really want to hear Setzer do the song "Drinkin' Wine Spo Dee O Dee!" |
