The reverse engineering of the 301 preamp has been done. The schematic drawn and the basic circuit has been "bread boarded" so I got to test it out yesterday. The setzer gritsch happens as low 3 oclock on the normal channels volume(63'blonde) when the pedal is dimed, the BSO sound is nearly there...we're getting closer. Roll back the volume on the gretsch with my master volume kit and the amp cleans up ... It seems that DM-3's don't quite come up for sale or auction as much as DM-2's and there seems to be quite a few DM-2 clones. BYOC now offers a DM-2 clone kit, so maybe there is a way to switch-er-oo some parts and get a DM-3?
