I've never been to one of the Eddie Cochran Weekenders in Chippenham, so have been looking forward to going next April for what should be the biggest commemoration of them all, but I can hardly find a thing about it on the web.

The best I can find is one reference that it will take place at a Leisure Centre in Chippenham and that Charlie Gracie will be playing. Does anyone know any more?? I've found that a Birthday celebration concert in 2008 was actually cancelled, so am fearing the worst. ...

In March 1985 , UK rockabillies , THE JETS played my local town here in Ireland.

One of the songs they played was called "Long Blonde Hair'. I had never heard it before or since but it was a tune that stuck in my head ever since. I never found out who did the original until last night when I typed in Long Blonde Hair into YOUTUBE. A guy from 1956 came up called Johnny Powers doing the song.

I urge all fans of original 50s rockabilly to check it out. Its FABULOUS.

Just wondering what the verdict is on him around here?

Me- I think he's pretty great. He's stood the test of time, and has tried to keep things fresh and interesting through out. I saw him this past spring and he puts on a good show. I don't think his stage volume is as crazy as it was with Crazy Horse, but it's surprisingly loud.

Plus I think he's one of the only old guys I know of, that could probably beat me up. Well, probably one of the many

Saturday i `d read in a local Newspaper Peter Green is in Town tonight.

It was just a short note.

Peter Green? Founder of Fleetwood Mac? The fantastic Blues guitar slinger?

He became a little crazy in the 70ies, but i guess he still know how to play.

So today the Blues is all around! (Black Magic Woman, Albatross....wonderful)

As one of my favourite music videos - 'Ricky Martin's 'Livin' la Vida Loca' is 'disabled' from nicking from YouTube. I wondered what people here thought of the song? The music here, NOT the Pirate film!

I love the Ricky Martin video, perhaps someone has it somewhere?

That's the name of my new Rockabilly Band!

I play lead guitar.

We have a great singer who also plays rhythm guitar and a double bass player who started playing just a year or so ago but is very talented! No drummers at all!

Today we recorded nearly the whole rehersal session and this is the best recording so far.

Everything was recorded in one take, with just one (ONE) microphone, in our rehersal room.

We used the freeware program "Audacity" to record it.

I hope you like ...

The fact of the matter is I'll be buying their new albums because I think they're cool guys, AND because I like their music. If they weren't so interesting online I might not be a "definite" buyer.

So on Friday night, I'm going to see one of my favorite singers, the lovely Miss Lavay Smith and Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers, in a relatively new and extremely gorgeous San Diego venue, Anthology (Seriously. Check out those pictures.) They get some of the best musical talent that comes through town at Anthology - Lee Rocker has played there - but I have yet to visit. They're known for being rather expensive and upscale, but have recently lowered their prices. You can pay just seven bucks for ...

You weren't kidding when you said they're "pure poetry set to music." I didn't realize he did so much spoken word stuff. It's like Louis Armstrong, Joe Cocker, Jack Kerouac, Charles Bukowski and Henry Rollins all rolled into a series of beat-poetry, performance-art pieces.
Surely, I call myself a Led Zeppelin fan. Huge, even.

These videos blew my mind. Pre-1970s Led Zeppelin ("The New Yardbirds" was a name they used for a few Scandinavian gigs, apparently, after the original Yardbirds sort of disbanded).

Very raw and very powerful. It's just NUTS to see this.

As a side note: notice the stillness and anticipation (and, possibly, shock) of the audience. [EDIT - oh yeah, AND the Telecaster!]
