First off, thisis my first post. Been a big fan forever.

I had a jazz guitar question. I started with drums and can peck a bit on piano. Anyhow I also would say I'm a self taught medium skilled at best guitarist. After a few years of feeling intimidated by jazz chords on guitar, I recently dipped my fot into the shallow end of the jazz pool. I was pleasently surprised to find that the basics of Jazz comping wasn't as intimidating as I always thought, (as I have picked up the basic root 5th and 6th string freddie green style chords). So I was wondering if anybody had or knew of a site that has simple 7th chord freddie green style chords for some of the bso tunes that feature Brian's D'angelico thumping under the Gretsch?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

BTW geat forum lots of cool info!

I don't happen to know of any specific website, but if you check some of my old transcriptions somewhere on this website, I wrote out the acoustic D'Angelico part for As Long As I'm Singing which is a fairly close comparison to Freddie Green Count Basie Band style-swing, which has some 5th and 6th string 6th, m7th, dom7th, chords.

Also, I would recommend that ye look into perhaps purchasing something a jazz chord book or look into some of the back issues of something like Guitar One, as they had a couple of really good articles from earlier in this decade on Freddie Green-style comping.

Hope that is of some help to ye.
