I just wanted to tell all you guys that tomorrow night after nearly twenty years of patiently WAITING, I get to see another of my musical idols Paul McCartney, who is playing Nashville for the first time ever!!!!
I tried to go see him when I first moved to TN. in 1989 when he was coming to Lexington, KY but I didn't have anyone to drive six hours with at that time........so we come to the present time....lol.
I'm hoping he'll play Juniors Farm, which he wrote after his 1974 Nashville trip.

The bucket list continues to get smaller...........saw Brian.....met Brian...........will see Paul.......will meet Paul????....doubtful, but seeing him is enough!!!!

I will be thinking about Tommy and Alex while I am seeing the show. Tommy, are you going to go see McCartney in PA????

Alex, I still remember that Tonight show story you told me.........ha ha.

If there's a rockshow.............

Eric

PS I still would love to see a Brian/Paul collaboration........

Me too. Congrats on getting to see Mr. Mac! His shows are between 2-3hrs, so you'll be getting your money's worth! Let us know if you get to meet him! Very Happy

I'm very excited for you, Eric, and a bit jealous. Sir Paul often keeps his setlist pretty static for each tour, but you would think a city like Nashville, with its rich musical history, would warrant something special. (Hopefully, he won't try to pass off "Mrs. Vanderbilt" as Tennessee-related, but even a Carl Perkins tune would be cool!) I remember seeing him in 1993 in Kansas City, laying odds that he'd break out "Kansas City / Hey Hey Hey," and sure enough, he played it for the encore! "Kansas City here I come, (Here I AM!)"

One cool thing with Sir Paul: Despite the usual suspects (Hey Jude, Live and Let Die, Let It Be) he will add a few never-before played songs to each tour. In Hyde Park last month, he broke out "I'm Looking Through You," and a rousing sing-a-long version of "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da." He's starting to sound every bit of his 68 years, but who cares? It's friggin' Paul McCartney!

That is wicked awesome.

My mom and dad were supposed to be at last night's show in Kansas City. Unfortunately, my dad had to leave the country for a few weeks for work, so, it put my mom's concert up in the air to see her "other husband" as he is referred to sometimes at our house.

I let my mom know I could make myself available if the ticket and traveling partner needed to be filled, BUT, my eldest cousin already snagged the opportunity.

Mom sent me a text with her view from her seat. No more than 5-6 rows from the right hand side of the stage, probably 50 feet from Paul's microphone.

I am sure I will get a full report when I see her this week.

Some day, I wish to see my "other father" perform.

Eric!
Have a wonderful time, I know it's going to be a blast........

I saw him this year at the Hollywood Bowl and he surprised us with
Mrs. Vandebilt, 1985, And I Love Her and I've Just Seen A Face, among many others.

I look forward to hearing your full report...........

and don't forget, this wednesday (7/28) PBS will broadcast "In Performance at the White House"
at 8pm, featuring Paul McCartney from last month when he was awarded the
Library of Congress Gershwin Prize. (Oh yeah, he also performed that night as part of the ceremony)

Ram On!

That would be cool to be 50 feet from Paul's microphone........bet those tix weren't cheap...lol.

Alex........hopin for Juniors Farm..........I have a promo dvd of him doing Matchbox during soundcheck....he might do that one for a Perkins tune.

It will be a great show either way...........will report back later.
