Hey Alex-

Since we have been discussing the "From The Vaults" issue tell me if you agree with these assesments:

So far...............Red, Hot & Live.......best live cd............lets have some more of these!!!

Christmas comes alive should be good..........only thing missing is "My Favorite Things". Why is that song not on there? He killed it live.............

We should start a petition to have Surfdog put out an official version DVD version of the Woodstock 99 show.........it was shot professionally........the band was at the top of their game.........a great representation of the BSO at their best!!!! Plus, I bet the Woodstock 99 people are getting hard up for some extra cash by now.....lol.

My random musings..........let me know your opinions........everyone else also!!!

Eric

PS PAUL ROCKED!!!!! His voice was in great shape.........everything I hoped it would be. Go on Youtube and you can see a lot of very good clips from the show.

AmERICano,
I would go for the DVD Live In Japan 1999, also shot proffesionally and it includes more songs!!! Much better than Woodstock, honestly!

It'd be hard for me to choose one over the other (we want it all, right?)

What I'll do here is add some other "wants", limiting it to pro-shot tv broadcasts:

05/28/95 BSO: Grosse Freheit, Hamburg
07/17/97 BSO: Pori Jazz Festival, Finland
10/27/97 BSO: VH1's "Swingin in Vegas" (complete!)
10/22/98 BSO: "Sessions @ West 54th" NYC (complete as well)

How about any of the pro-shot Brian Setzer Trio
performances from when they opened for Tom Petty in July 2002?
I've heard rumors they're out there...........

VH1 Duets with Bryan Adams?
Monday Night Concerts w/ Ricky Skaggs?

There's so much more to choose from.............but yeah, Woodstock 99 would be a most welcome dvd!

I would like to see an official release of the 1994 Boot CD from Japan - Rockabilly Roots, OK. I always liked that one.

I have an *ehrrm* Suspect unofficial DVD with two different shows from that tour. Pro-shot, as you mention, but the sound on one of the shows NEEDS to be remixed if any of them are to be released officially (hardly any bass). Some of the clips are on dailymotion, btw...

Oh, i agree.

I think all the shows would have to be upgraded sonically and visually for them to be released.
And re those two Trio shows, you're right about the sound as the recording is a soundboard and
not mixed properly (you can barely hear the audience). That's always the complaint with soundboards, isn't it?

I think the sound of the crowd in Red Hot Live is bad. for some bands they mix in the crowd well but not for setzers stuff. Hate hearing the crowd on his live releases

This 07/17/97 BSO: Pori Jazz Festival, Finland show or one of the gigs (they played 2 or 3 )was filmed but never broadcasted due poor sound quality. I met the tv-producer couple years ago at some jazz festival and I asked about the show. They still have it...

Anybody remember Istvan from Hungary?

He had a vhs copy of a 35 minute broadcast of the 07/17/97 show.
(not an audience recording).

These were the 07/17 songs that were broadcast:
Route 66
Mellow Saxophone
Rumble in Brighton
Rock This Town
As Long As Iím Singing
Got To Get You Into My Life
Brand New Cadillac

Is it possible the Pori show was broadcast in Hungary?

No I don't think it's the Finnish tv crew production, so maybe there was another crew???

I think that show was broadcast on the Hungarian TV. I used to have that show on VHS but I gave it away to a friend in Helsinki, as he attended that show.

Of course it's possible but seems weird because the producer said that the sound quality was bad. But how bad, I have no idea.

If you are talking about the show where Brian is wearing a leopard print suit, where his guitar gets unplugged during "Sleepwalk", I'll second that. By far my favorite live show. I managed to get a crystal clear DVD of that show on eBay a couple of years ago. It Rocks !

BSO Rocks,
yeh, that's also one of my favourite shows. I would go for the one at the Boston Roxy in 1998. I don't know if it's because of the sound, the set list... but there is something magic on that concert!

Concerning that bootleg, Rockabilly Roots OK... that was the fist BSO show ever... IN JAPAN!! The BSO was christened in December 1992, played a few shows during 1993 and recorded the album to continue with a full US Tour in Spring/Summer 1994

These were the first live BSO shows:

12/03/92 The Strand Redondo Beach, CA
12/04/92 Ventura Theater Ventura, CA
12/05/92 The Coach House San Juan Capistrano, CA

I was at the Strand and will never forget it, it blew everybody away; I also thought afterward that this project might be more of a lark and that Brian would not bring it back. Remember that 7 months later he played 11 dates in Japan, a solo tour with his brother Gary that resulted in the live recording Rockin By Myself. Thankfully I was wrong about never seeing Brian Setzer and his Rockin Big Band again (one of several different names used for the early gigs).

What's interesting to me about the Japanese show on April 1, 1994 (Rockabillys Roots) is that there were no other shows during this Japanese trip!

Hey Scatman,

I found a CD I want for Christmas. I tried to buy it 10 years ago but the seller stiffed me.

If I am correct, that CD is also available as "Runaway Kids" - if you are patient, you can find it from time to time on Ebay UK for just 10 GBP + postage!
