Oh, not long ago, a local pub here closed down... and many bands were invited to play for such an event. My brother was invited to play too and we did a 5 song Stray Cat set:

Rumble
Stray Cat Strut
My One Desire
Law
Please Dont Touch

Here's me, Slim Jon!! (sorry I am looking down, just concentrating on the end of Stray Cat Strut!)

Aye, a couple of pictures more!!

About the set:
just those 5 songs, since each and every band had only 20min to perform.
There was no rehearsal, just played them and we nailed the 3 first. Then, on I Fought The Law, while I was playing the roll for the intro, one of my drumsticks flew away... silly me, who had no spares!!! But the bassist gave it back to me, and we resume playing ;-)

It was a funny night, a couple of friends came to see me... pity my girl wasn't there as it was decent late, 1.30am and she gets up at 5am... maybe next time, who knows!!

Thanks for sharing man, sounds like it was a great night.
Good solid song choice too!

Scary stuff with the drumstick ....it could of been the first 'domino' to start a closing down bar fight! What a Face

Imagine this...

Whose drumstick is this??? Slim's!!! It was 5 years ago in Madrid.

I was very fortunate to get such a picture!! I was trying to get him jumping... but well, what I got "jumping" was the stick, funny though!!

You're very welcome, glad you enjoyed it Smile
Yeah, it's always great to see a new (even though it's old) concert.
It would be wonderful to see the full interview and the full concert, which was obviously edited for tv .....but still, great stuff indeed!

Setzerado,
there were 3 gigs, from March 9 to 11, 1990 at venue called Projeto SP.

The second show (10.3) was the one for the TV, and the first one (9.3) includes That Someone Just Ain't You. I think it's the only time this song has ever been performed live... but maybe on the two remaining shows they played it as well... but we have no infos about it.

That was the only time they played there... though there were 2 shows in Mexico, one in Tijuana in 1989 if I am correct, and the other one was in Cancun in 1993.

In 1993, Lee Rocker was producing an album for an Spanish band, which was recorded in Nashville TN, and the Cats had that gig in Cancun sponsored by a Tequila brand, and the Cats had the courtesy of inviting the leader of the Spanish band to play in a couple of songs with them.

1993 ??
I did not know they were still playing together this year as the first BSO songs were written this same year. Very interesting, thank you Jon.

From what Jon and I have been able to put together, this 1993 gig in Cancun took place over Super Bowl weekend (i.e., the last Sunday in January) which would not have been too long after their last gig in Japan on Nov. 18, 1992.

Of course, the BSO had their live debut 2 weeks later (Dec 3, 1992), but a well-paid, one-off gig in Cancun would not be a big surprise. What does surprise me is that we only just found out about it! And no, Tavo, we don't have a setlist from Cancun, haha!

Ooby Dooby!

Just a correction, Scatman is referring to 1992 and 1993 !!!

I recently spoke to this man, and he told me he played "Long Tall Sally" and "Something Else" for the encores, and he was pretty close to the date that Scatman found. He told me: "I remember it was a month before I got married, that is, the show was in February"...

I always knew about this show, but we never knew when!! I think that on the LP version of this Spanish band's album, "La Rosa Y La Cruz" (The Rose & The Cross) by Los Rebeldes, includes a few pictures of the Cats and Los Rebeldes playing in Cancun; that's what I've been told.

I've recently discovered that...

THE CATS PLAYED IN RIO DE JANEIRO IN 1990 TOO!! (March 13)

It took us 20 years to know that, hah!
