Ironically now that I have supersized my fries I want the 32 oz to go with it, extra ice please! anyone with a source for a deal on the hammond 125ESE transformer needs to share. That baby's goin in next. Its on nick, its on!!! nick??? you ever come back here??

| Yep I'm here. First post! My Valve Junior goes with me wherever I go. It's the perfect backup amp. I have a 1/4 extension cord that goes with it too. If an amp goes down, it's right there to plug into the cabinet speakers. It's a shame I haven't used it much. So what about the sound? I'm bad at it but it gets that "My Head's in Mississippi" sound. It's so nice. Have you come to terms with not having a tone control or is that next? It's an unbelievable bargain. Completely customizable and easy to figure out. |

I dont need a tone control as I found a cheap mod that swaps out C3, R1,R2,R6,R7. The amp has almost 1/3 more clean volume with near Vox ac15/fender vibrochamp jangle, the amp begins to clip now at 3 oclock and when dimed is almostACDC sound with the powertron+. By Jumpering R6 and lowering the resistance on R7, the factory set volume that was around 50% is now fully open. I just ordered a duet of JJs for it, so I'm set until I find that hammond tranny and add in a 100uf filter cap in parallel with the others. The circuit is slightly different being that this is an '08 than those you find on the net, so there is no need for fixing hum, etc. Its been revised. The stock cab is cool but its SOOO much better at 4ohms into the blonde cab. I think I may try it this week at work with my Strat.
glad to see you and Shary back, were the F is budgie??? n th rest of you friday evening beer sippin rockers!! 'n where are the sammiches? |

He'd at least feel better playing it if the crap stock eminence speaker was swap'd out for a celestion v30!! Open up the master wide, input gain lower and the space echo bumping the crap outa the front end of the amp, no attenuator! Git 'er done!
btw.. since the speaker jacks appear to be series, you can safely toss that combo atop the bassman cab into the ext. jack. The sound might feel a tad bloated(8+4ohms) but it will be more sonically spread instead of so nasally focus'd. just be sure to not use just the bassman cab ALONE as the amp wants 8ohms and the bassman is 4ohms. 'member 8+4=12!! (unless that friggin amp uses parallel jacks which would make 8+4=12 divided by 2= 6ohms. either way is cool.
