The Baseballs

Hey,
does any of you like this German band called The Baseballs??

What do you think about them??

IMO, though a bit commercial, I guess they've had an original idea by mixing all these new
Lady Gaga, Kate Perry hits into a rocking style. I think that otherwise, we shouldn't go
and play one of these tracks.

I am enjoying them quite a lot.

There's also this UK group called The Rocker Covers...
they do a bit of the same but mixing them with some Rock classics...
for instance, Roxanne by The Police goes into Stray Cat Strut or Lady Gaga's Poker Face
goes into Brand New Cadillac!

Over here, most people that really like Rockabilly and Rock´n´Roll just can´t stand these FAKES!

The idea of mixing isn´t even new as Dick Brave (aka as Sascha, a german pop singer) did it already years back:





He did it mainly as a fun thing first to break out of his pop scheme. I like that better.

I know what you mean and I kind of agree with you, but thing is,
what you reckon about that idea?? I mean, it's something somehow new.
It's entertaining!

I guess it's valid for me 'cause I have never been a rocking person.
I like RnR but it's Stray Cats and the rest came laterr.
Maybe because it does sound more modern to me I like it best...

didn´t mean to be too harsh - if you like it, it´s OK for you (and OK with me).

My point is:
These Baseball guys insist to have invented "Voc´n´Roll", as they call it. To me, they have invented NOTHING as what they do is how Rockabilly started: Take somebody else´s stuff (like "That´s Alright Mama" or Blue Moon of Kentucky"), give it a little twist and there you are. What´s new about that? And - what annoys me most - they don´t really give any credit to the ones who did it first nor to the musicians playing for these casted weirdos.

At the end of the day I agree that if somebody enjoys the music it´s alright because for me the most important thing about playing / listening to music is to have fun with it.
