A huge thanks to the BSO for a Christmas show to remember. I was enjoying the show way too much to bother with a setlist, but some memorable tunes were Drive Like Lightning, '49 Merc. Blues, Honey Man, Jump Jive and Wail, and the traditional BSO Christmas tunes. The crowd was a little subdued, but that's to be expected up there. There were several fresh faces in the orchestra this year, but I think they all got the kinks worked out on opening night. The guys sounded stellar, and Brian's guitar playing was amazing as usual. Julie and Leslie sang their hearts out, and had great stage presence. They were fun to watch as usual. Tim Messina had a smokin' solo on Jump, Jive and Wail.

Unfortunately, there was no opening act at the casino, but the BSO played for a solid 1hr. 45 min. All in all, an excellent show. Personally, this was one of my favorite BSO shows, just because of the sheer number of non-Christmas music played by the band. What a treat! I left the night with a hoarse voice from cheering, and sore feet from dancing. It's all good. The people we spoke with in the audience after the show were totally jazzed. One guy gave Brian the ultimate compliment: "He has so much fun up on stage. He looks like he's really enjoying himself. Not only that, but he seems like the kind of guy you'd have over to the house for beer and tacos." Awesome.

My hubby and I had the opportunity to meet some amazing people last night, and to experience that level of realness was really special. I have a great respect for the talent that is the BSO. The best part is, these are real people who are passionate about what they do. It's a refreshing find in today's music industry. Thank you Brian, for being true to yourself and surrounding yourself with genuinely nice people. Merry Christmas to you all, and I'll be keeping you guys and gals in my thoughts and prayers for a safe, uneventful tour.

Thanks again for an amazing show. The BSO is a class act!

Hotrod Girl- sounds like you had a similar experience to mine ( though no dancing allowed at Minneapolis show). What an awesome show!
I agree, he looks like he has such a great time up there and like he really enjoys it and that make the experience even better!

Happy and safe holidays to all

It's always nice to see how much people enjoy BSO shows.

Most of you know that I am not a BSO fan (well, during the Guitar Slinger period... yes I am!)
but the BSO must be really something to experience anyway!

Also, The Dirty Boogie years (1998-99) must have also been a blast!! A friend of my brother
remembers seeing them in Las Vegas and apart from the sound, he mentions the visual spectacle:
the choreography, Big King Fun pretending to read the score from Willie Murillo and the latter
pretending to be offended... very funny!!

It would be fantastic if Surfdog could get the rights to release on DVD the BSO show in Tokyo
1999 - it's been on bootlegs for a while. TV broadcast, fantastic sound... it has all the ingredients
for an official relesae. Plus, the set list at that time was fantastic. Hawaii 5-0 is the best opening
the BSO has ever had!! Also, Swicthblade is no longer in the set list, or Gloria or Mellow Saxphone...
awwwhhhh....
