I dig the new album. Dylan's gravelly voice excels in the blues genre. He's kinda like Howlin' Wolf in an iron lung.
I remember seeing Dylan in 1994 just days after Richard Nixon died. I think it may have been on the eve of his funeral. Dylan inserted a sneering version of "Masters of War" into the setlist. Very chilling to hear these words on the eve of the funeral of a man who was once President of the United States:
And I hope that you die
And your death will come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand on your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead
I returned home from the show just in time to see an exciting new band make their network television premiere - The Brian Setzer Orchestra, performing "Brand New Cadillac" on the Late Show with David Letterman.
I can honestly say that night was life-changing, though Bob Dylan had very little to do with it.
