Something weird happened today.....
I had been thinking it was time to get a new dog, as ours had to be put down last Easter. Dior the Dalmation had been part of our family for 14 years.
A few days ago, our cat Coco, whom we've also had for 12 years, showed signs of being a little off colour. Usually she bounced right back. I mentioned to my wife that I'll bring our girls to the Animal Welfare League on Saturday, just to see what's involved. The cat disappeared from that day on. The other cat, not ours, we just feed it everyday and called it Mystery as we have no idea where it came from when we found it sleeping on our front door step 6 months ago, still comes everyday to play and eat. It's a really friendly cat that is the exact same cat as Coco, except male, and at times I swear it's a reincarnation of my late Father.
Yesterday we went to the Shelter and found a dog that chose our girls rather than the other way around. We put her on hold and came home to really think about it and work out what to do with the cat situation.
This morning I found the cat dead on the back porch. She looked peaceful and I really wonder what happened. Our eldest daughter also found her and I had to tell her not to say anything to her younger sister. It allowed the decision about the dog to be an easy one.
I can't but help think that the cat was telling us that it wasn't going to be strong enough to go through the stress of allowing a new family member, but didn't want us to suffer the emotional drama involved in seeing your pet get sick and pass on.
Has anyone had some similar experience??
Cheers Pete
