Dance Floor in Waukegan?

I was looking at tickets for the Christmas show in IL...and guess what? There was a notice for possible limited view seating from the first couple of rows due to a DANCE FLOOR in front of the stage! Wow. Interesting for those of us who like to dance...

Does anyone know of other venues that will be having a dance floor for the BSO Christmas tour? And what are your thoughts on this?

quite interesting the possibility to dance during the show but on the other hand, I think that dancing should not be allowed mainly because not everyone can afford a seat ticket so those goers have to see it standing and if someone is dancing, the views and the comfort might be interrupted.
But woud be interesting to separate the standing area in two: one for the ones who might want to dance, and the others, for the ones who prefer to enjoy the show.

I can't sit still at a BSO show. I know a lot of people are the same. Having a dance floor accommodates those who want to stand at the foot of the stage and be close to the action, as well as those who want the freedom to move and wiggle in their enjoyment, AND those who want to do actual partner dancing. Seating - with and without possibly obscured view - is available for those who enjoy their gigs in a more sedate manner. Seems to be the best of all worlds.

Though I wonder, if a dance floor is available, how much of it will be taken up by people crammed in like sardines and how much will actually be open for dancing? Regardless I think it's a great idea.

Edit: Jon, from my experience dancers normally end up behind people who want to stand anyway - I doubt there would be much of a problem in that regard.

I know, I was thinking the same thing that Andi brought up...who's going to stop people from simply rushing the stage and stand there. In my ideal world, the dance floor would be open for people who are actually dancing, not just standing there swaying to the music. So, do you have a guard by the dance floor that monitors couple dancing, or is that way to big brother-like?


I just thought it was interesting that there will actually be a dance floor. I think it's a great idea, if it's really used for dancing. Is anyone on here planning on going to the IL show? I'd love to hear how it works out with the dance floor.

its nice that they're doing that... they all but tackled anyone who wanted to dance at the last bso show i went to a couple of years ago... it was really horrible! I bet Brian had something to do with that though, he even remarked from the stage that they needed to have room for people to dance that night...
