| As the second picture is the winner of the competition, i thought the idea was that that one would be the album cover. Am i right in thinking this is just going to be used as an illustration instead? Is the first photo here the actual album cover? And Andi.....those are the same red and white shoes that i have!!! | |

| Well, I think a lot of us would have chosen Andi's to be the cover over the one that's actually being used, however, Surfdog was pretty clear throughout the contest that the winning design may or may not be chosen as the actual cover. I know most people submitted designs that would be more suited for the front cover of the CD. Andi's is more versatile, and with more of the neon on the left hand side of the picture, there's plenty of room for a tracklisting on the right hand side, should they use it for the back cover or cd booklet.
From a commercial standpoint, it's probably better that Brian is recognizeable on the cover, rather than a silhouette, but as a work of art, I prefer Andi's design. I just hope they keep the nepotism at bay and use her photo insead of Cody Setzer's sketch for the back cover or CD booklet. Cody is very talented, and I'm sure he could contribute something else to the CD booklet. His artwork already adorns at least 2 singles.

| Steve, when I was at Surfdog yesterday they made it clear that as of now they still have not decided whether to use my photo, or Cody Setzer's illustration of my photo (both of which can be found still on BrianSetzer.com - along with the pic of me and that Sexy, Sexy guitar!!) I was also told that they hadn't decided whether it (either my photo or the illustration) would be on the back cover or somewhere in the packaging, that they were mocking up several different options to decide upon. I *did* get a copy of the advance CD jewel box (just the box, mind you, not the CD!!) which uses my photo (with just the street, not including the silhouette of Le Setz) as the back cover. However, they were quite clear that that was ONLY for the advance, being sent out to radio stations, and it would likely change significantly. Still, that to me is pretty dang cool. It was also confirmed that my name, whether as the photographer or as the photographer of the photo upon which the illustration was based, WOULD be in the final CD. Which for me is also pretty dang cool. Unbelievably so. As for the Red Cons, me and them shoes have quite the history. http://www.flickr.com/photos/andihazelwood/sets/72157606570880049/I reckon I'll be wearin' 'em till the day they fall off my feet!! | |
