| Laurent, I think we're both right. Obviously, it's more money for Surfdog (and Brian). But I appreciate the opportunity to be able to listen to these songs now.

| Laurent, please shorten the number of dollar signs you've posted or at least put in some line breaks.
It makes the thread impossible to read as is.

now you have a reason to buy a turntable again!

| Jon: "what's the point of having a digital release in advance?" Well, you certainly answered that question by downloading it yourself from youtube. At this point in the debate, it's not the means of how one can get it, but of actually having the track, right? Enjoy it , brother!
Rickipedia: I am going to print out your dissertation on the two new tracks and insert them in the cd case when we finally have the new release. Your words are, as always, very insightful and a pleasure to read. (PS It's been 17 years, not 16)
Laurent: Not a favor from Surfdog? Technically, no. But the reality of today's market almost requires advance releases, and EVERYBODY benefits. The choice is up to the individual consumer/fan, to either wait for the whole album, purchase individual advance downloads or share them for free with like-minded fans.
As one of the last to practically join the digitized world, I have to admit that these advance releases have been an overall positive experience, and in no way will affect or change my collecting habits or purchasing choices. I still want it all....................right Andi?? hahahaha
lovin the discussion!

| Really? 17 years? The BSO before August 1992? Drop some knowledge on us, Perfesser! I was aware of the Supper Club / Hard Rock gigs in Oct 1993, but was he writing and recording the first BSO album in 1992?
Or are you counting the BSO-ready Beautiful Blues?
Ah... Anchorman to the rescue! I see a 3 December 1992 show in Redondo Beach.
OK, close enough - 17 years it is!

| I think we're getting into BSO uber-geek mode now, fellas. Rick, you mentioned the formation of the BSO - not the first recording of the BSO. From a very reputable source:
12/03/92: The Strand, Redondo Beach, CA - the 1st B.S.O. public performance.
One would imagine that has them rehearsing, what, at least a month prior? So maybe they haven't been in existence for 17 years just yet, but 16 years, 9 months, 23 days...
(edit: I took too long to post before you figgered it out fer yerself!)
Scatman, as for wanting it all, I'm not a collector anymore like I used to be - I got that outta my system when I realized I had to cart all that stuff around the world with me every time I moved!! But yeah, given the option of paying a pittance to hear new songs right away rather than waiting till the whole record comes out... yeah, I'm payin' both times. Not many artists for whom I'm willing to do that, though.

Rosetta Stone-a-billy tryin to remember what year the setzer guitar instruction VHS came out as I bought it the second it was released and if memory serves ( dusty in there ) He showed up here in "LA" on Kroq's "kevin n bean" radio morning show with some horns to let loose his new idea... that was the day I lost a nipple in excitement

| The BSO debut was not released until March 1994, so no, I don't believe they were working on the album in 1992.(Yes, I still call them 'albums'). What I'm curious about is when did the guys have time to get together? The Cats toured the States, Europe and Japan in 1992.
Rick: I was at that 1992 show and provided Anchorman with a lot of those dates. I'll send you a short little timeline I've been working on...........ahem!
Andi: do you count yourself in with us as a fellow BS uber-geek? (and i don't mean Bob Seger or Bruce Springsteen, ok?)
TV: I don't recall a KROQ appearance, but there were numerous radio spots that Brian did in 1995/96. He did several for KLOS Mark & Brian, might that be the show you're talking about? His first appearance on that show was on 3/24/95.
Everybody: Any word or rumor about the Japanese release and Bonus Track for LonelyAve?

| I do understand all the points of view but I am 100% with Laurent. It's just for cash. It's silly to pay for a song that you're going to have in the album a few weeks later. They could upload it on bs.com and that's it. Now that Ignition is on Itunes at 8 bucks, I find this even more ridiculous! For that price you can get it on a second hand store or brand new on Ebay!!
Concerning the 7" and all that, sure it was for the money, but at least you were given something in exchange, not only the music.
As a collector, sure that I will be the first in getting the advance CD, the Japanese Import and whatsoever, but not going to pay twice for the songs.
In any case, all this are different points of view, that's it |

Well, well, well... You've been holdin' out on me, son! All these years and not once have you mentioned being at that first BSO show. I think if I had been at Sun Studios on July 5, 1954 with that truck driver from Tupelo, or St Peter's in Woolton on July 6, 1957 hangin' out with the Quarrymen, I might have chosen to mention that before now. I need a 10,000-word essay on my desk by Friday detailing the events of 16 years, 265 days ago! Spill it!-billy

(and i don't mean Bob Seger or Bruce Springsteen, ok?) Yeah, I have to admit, I think the geekiness 'round these parts has definitely been rubbing off on me what with the traveling the world to see shows and the taking of photographs and keeping of setlists and writing of experiences and hoarding of ticket stubs/backstage passes and winning of guitars (!!!!) I would say I'm gonna stick to my guns as far as keeping the amount of *stuff* I have to a minimum, but I think I've already pretty much broken my own rule on that. My tiny little space just keeps filling up with Setzerness... - Rickabilly wrote:

Huh. You mentioned that to me Scatman, what, in like your.... second email? Hahaha! (That said, I wanna hear that beery essay someday too.)
