Jon's lyrics thread got me to thinking. I love Misheard Lyrics. There are the well known ones, like CCR's "bathroom on the right" and Hendrix's "'scuse me while I kiss this guy," but the linked site has some pretty funny user submitted ones.
What are some lyrics that YOU have been guilty of mis-hearing?
For years it never occurred to me that Joe Turner was saying "she's so small she can mambo in a payphone booth" in "Flip Flop & Fly." I constantly sang along, "she's so smart she can mumble in a payphone boo." Which of course makes absolutely no sense. My husband took great delight in making fun of me for that one.
Now bring us some friggin' pudding!

My hubby never lets me live this down.
One day he came home after class (we were in college) and caught me belting out to "Chemical Warfare" by the Dead Kennedys. Well, I'm yelling "Killing a wombat, Killing a wombat, Killing a wombat, wombat, wombat"...and he's laughing hysterically. Me, I'm clueless. He corrects me and says "Girl, it's Chemical Warfare, chemical warfare, chemical warfare, warfare, warfare."
I 'bout died of embarrassment right on the spot. Honestly, I liked my wombat lyrics better!

This always make me smile
Paul Simon's song Graceland - listen out for these lyrics in the song
As if I'd never noticed, The way she brushed her hair from her forehead
I always hear
As if I'd never noticed, The way she brushed her hair and farted
It happens about 1min 45secs

first one that came to mind for me (this dates me too much) was Rupert Holmes' "Pina Colada" song. My friends & I always sang "If you like being a colana"
Which was ok...because back then I didn't know what a Pina Colada was either!

Bee Gees - How deep Is You Love
And you come to me on a summer breeze
I always hear
And you come to me on a submarine
It happens about 0.36 secs
this video always cracks me up anyway

Yay, if anybody has a song called "Rock N Roll" by Los Rebeldes (Spansih band in whose this song Brian is playing), one of the last lines says:
"Pregunta a los Rebeldes, Mescalina mi amor" (Ask Los Rebeldes, Mescalina - the name of a girl - my love)
and I understood: "Pregunta a los Rebeldes, espabila mi amor" (Ask los Rebeldes, hurry up my love)
---- And this one from Darrel Higham called "A Heartache I can't Bear":
OV: "a jealous man once took his gun"
and my version: "a jealous man wants to kiss gone" ----
Specially foreigners (like me) tend to make many silly mistakes like theses ones... but even in our own language. For instance, tht Spanish band I mentioned above, Los Rebeldes, sometimes it's pretty difficult to understand!
