| Thanks for making me feel old, Kid! Have a seat, young blood, and ol' Rickabilly will tell you a story... Back in the olden times, before digital downloads, there were these plastic circles, approximately 5 inches in diameter, housing up to 75 minutes of music known as compact discs. But before compact discs (CDs) there were these larger 12" vinyl circles with about 22 minutes of music on each side known as records, or LPs. When Compact Discs first entered the music marketplace in the mid-1980s, the itty-bitty CDs were struggling to be seen among the LPs in the record bins of music stores. So, the CDs were packaged in jewel cases, and then those jewel cases were packaged in long boxes, as wide as the CDs, but as long as LPs, so the top edge of the CD boxes would stand out amongst the record albums. This practice only lasted a few years, into the early 1990s, as it was a very costly waste of resources. Most consumers simply threw away their long boxes the minute they opened their CDs. Many music companies ditched the long box idea almost immediately. So for collectors of these early CDs released between 1984-1992, the long boxes are especially valuable. Whew! I need a nap! When I was your age-a-billy | |

| I'll be posting a better picture of those long boxes in my blog someday soon.
As Rickabilly has very well explained, these long boxes are very valuable for collectors and they add something unique, different to the "traditional" way of selling albums, I mean, it's different from having a LP or a CD. A Long Box is something different.
BTW, the rumour has it that there's a Rock Therapy long box edition... I've never seen it, but... any of you has??? Scatman?? Peetycat?? Rickabilly?? Rassmussen?? Sidelake?? |

| In this country ,when ever someone shuffles off from this mortal coil ,they are stuffed into a long box and then placed in a large hole(approx 6ft deep x 3 ft wide x 6 ft long) in order that they can reflect for a time on thier past misdemeanors. For effect ,some dodgy looking guy shovels about 20 wheelbarrows of dirt on top of the participant while a large crowd pretends to cry while waiting for the pub to open. Later on ,some of the crowd will return to urinate on the star of the show. | |
