Buzz Campbell has decided he loves the Nocturne preamp. Even recorded his new album with it on his amps. He let me shoot a demo video and Jonny Bowler his new bassist (from Guana Batz) plugged into a nocturne pedal with his King Double bass into my blonde bassman. Buzz is running his classics loaded Setzer hotrod into a snow globe Nocturne and 71' fender deluxe. Halfway through the demo, he and Jonny give me a debut of an instrumental from the new album. Here's six minutes of Nocturne in the hands of Mr. Campbell. i wish I could have added the footage of him with Lee rocker. he was using the nocturne into a sparkle white Gretsch Variety amp and fender twin.

thanks! yes he's still got the keely java boost but didnt use it as far as I know. The burriss is gone. I modded his old Boss DM-2 for the modern 9v power supply so that is back on his board along with the nocturn pedal. He also does gigs that require him to go almost completely digital. In ear monitors, electronic drums, guitars direct..so he uses a line 6 POD XT.. He found that the Nocturne makes his guitar feel and sound more natural so I built him a second one for that rig. here it is on the floor at Lucilles here in so cal.

Wow, what kind of gigs is he doing in this case? Playing with HRL?
anyway, great news and great job. edit: just saw the video. these cool guys were playing in your living room???? awesome.
The Nocturne with a Standup bass is very, very interesting. I will try it next week with my bassplayer. He don´t play with any amp on stage. He`s using 2 cheap Booster (Nobels) and the signal goes into the PA. (1 for the tone, 1 for the slap). Could be a great pedal for bassplayer as well.
iI`m a little proud to be a part of this Nocturne comunity...it becomes bigger and bigger...

B, one note about that bass. he has the King double bass with the pkups in the fretboard with steel strings. I had to keep the bass control totally open (to the right). Geoff of Hillbilly Casino uses the nocturne for one of his smaller rigs but has a piezo bridge pkup in his King Double bass.
I'm gonna be modifying the bass cut on Jonny's pedal slightly.
btw..If you have to play in the legalized gambling casinos out here ( sovereign indian nation) they supposedly want to have complete audio control over the band? hence the in ear, digi drums, guits direct thing. I do know he also does some solo stuff in sports grills/diner pubs running straight to powered speakers and the podxt and nocturne get used.

our bassplayer uses no steelstrings and has 2 piezo(? i`m not 100% sure, but he has 2). I will try the nocturne for the pu at the bridge.
i`ll let you know bout results .

that sounds like fun! I wish Geoff would pop in here to help.. I just installed an underwoods piezo in our 51' kay but the nocturne just seems to make it "Fatter" through the little PA we've got in the living room.
ps. I shot that video at Buzz's pad. ..and yes I'm glad to know you are open to experimenting with that nocturne pedal to. I was fooling with it on my acoustic that uses the lr baggs M-1.

Sharky.. it would seem like that huh? Nothing has changed at all. I sit in my shop just like I did with the first 20. I now have to buy more product to stay on top and I have graduated to custom decal logos and pinstriping.. so I can move a little faster. Thats about it. Having said that it is REALLY fun to go see guitarists playing with the nocturne. I think that is what makes me want to keep going instead of cussing the solder burns. So.. I dont mean to sound like a weirdo but when are you gonna do a video of you playin some mean Jazz with the nocturne? We will forgive you for using the enemies guitar though.. playing a gibson is a venial sin, how long has it been since your last confession?

C'mon, Tavo, we all know the real enemy is B.C. Rich...
BTW, my Nocturne was perfect on it's live debut last Saturday! The sound guy was surprised to hear me NOT play so loud... Great job buddy, you deserve all the cudos you get!

HA! I often play with a TRIO called "Blue Confessions" - so I guess my answer is: every Monday at Zolas.
I am trying to find some time to get a video for you. Looking for an extra strength lense that won't break when it sees my mug - along with my vintage Gibsons . . .
IT BURNS! IT BURNS !

That's awesome! Scott Mo' is a sweet instrumental. I'll have to check out some Hotrod Lincoln.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one!! I also find the need from time to time to go digital due to noise restrictions:

thats pretty space age! I was gonna run my nocturne into my line 6 POD and Line 6 DL4.. do you think that will cancel out the silver mica and Xicon caps in the nocturne?
