| Salut Laurent ! Glad to know there is a new AC/DC record. I'm a fan since a long time ago. Why do you talk about a "farewell" (I really don't like this word this last times) album ? | |

| I love the Bon Scott and early Brian Johnson years. (OK, just one of the Brian Johnson years. After Back In Black, I kinda stopped following the band.)
By Johnson's second album with the band he was starting to lose what little character he had in his voice. There was none of that Bon Scott snarl and smarm present at all. I just saw a telecast of what seemed to be a recent concert (actually it was the No Bull video and was 12 years old I believe), and all I can say is, rock shouters' voices just don't age well at all. It doesn't mean the music doesn't rock, but I can't bring myself to love a voice that sounds like it's gargling razor blades. For me, Johnson's vocals detract from just how rockin' Angus, Malcom, Clif, and Phil or drummer du jour can be.
Still, for a nostalgic purposes, I may have to check out this swan song.
ACDC fans, change my mind. What Brian Johnson-era album should I check out? Yeah, I remember the song Thunderstruck. Great guitar riff, but it still made me want to give Johnson a throat lozenge.

Angus today to 53 years. Between the last album and this one is it past 8 years. If there is a next it will be release about 2016. AC/DC in 2016 "Granddad plays hardrock," it's pathetic. In my opinion this is the last studio album.

| Angus is a killer ! I really like his guitar playin'. I've often thought about some duets with Le Setz' around Chuck Berry or/and Elmore James songs... | |

| There hasn't been any Aussie tour dates announced yet.. but 'rumour' has it that it may be early 2009... hope it doesn't clash with Stray Cats.. of course Stray Cats win hands down.. but I'd really like to go to both.. HELLO! It's ACCA DACCA!! They're not really an Australian band.. but we claim that they are.. we do that with alot of things that are good.. except you guys can keep Mel Gibson (who is actually Australian) Kid. | |

Kid. Mel was born in New York. For some reason we claim Russel Crowe as Australian, but he was born in New Zealand. We're a strange lot here (Kid case in point ). Also we claim the BeeGee's (shudder), so why not AC/DC. Funny thing about Brian Johnson, I've never noticed his voice being any different. I'll definitely check out the album, I'm sure it won't be anything different to previous releases, but hey, Angus rocks Pony

| Wow, I thought Mel WAS born in Australia! Hence the Mad Max films.. same with the BeeGees.. I need to go to Wikipedia and get my facts straight..
Actually, Wikipedia isn't good for straightening facts.
EDIT: Oh I see now, Mel wasn't born here but he moved here.. Same with the BeeGees.. so they do have Australian connections.. You can have your thread back now.

| If you listen to the Bon Scott recordings, his voice has real character and personality to it. He can growl, sneer, leer, and actually has a bit of a vocal range. His voice may actually be more rock-n-roll when he isn't really singing or shouting. When Bon reduces himself to talking "concrete shoes, cyanide, TNT..." he's at his most sly and sinister. Brian Johnson to me has very little vocal range, and is really just a lot of screaming - at least to my ears. People who wrote how Brian was an ideal replacement for Bon, that their voices were nearly identical - I don't understand that assessment at all.
One thing Brian Johnson does have over Bon Scott - a few more birthdays! Although the years haven't been particularly kind to Brian's voice - at least in the No Bull concert DVD I saw recently - he still may be the luckiest man in rock since Ringo Starr. There are worse things in the world than being a lead singer in a rock band with Angus Young on guitar!
Obviously, the fans love him, as AC/DC had its biggest success with Back in Black, and AC/DC continues to enjoy the kind of commercial success our beloved Stray Cats can only dream about. (Although the Cats could put out a new album just to try and prove me wrong. C'mon lads, have a go at it, will ya?)

| Not meaning to hijack the thread (not sure I am) but BJ is lucky. If Bon was still alive and kicking, success or not the fans would be divided as to who they want as the singer. They don't have that choice, BJ is the singer since Bon isn't around. They'll always be the comparisons between different eras, which was better, but that's it. AC/DC fans don't have to go through what Motley Crue or Van Halen fans did.

If Bon hadn't died, then Angus and the boys wouldn't have had to bring in Brian Johnson in the first place, would they...? Personally, I prefer Bon over Brian, and most of the AC/DC-fans that I know say the same (I've even seen t-shirts with the print "who the fuck is Brian Johnson?"). Bon had an actual singing voice, where Brian at times sounds more like a jar full of bees. But since the alternative would be no AC/DC at all, I ain't complaining Anders
