| The Japanese release will be due on August 20... I haven't found any information concerning the bonus tracks but I am sure that one or two will be on the CD. I can wait for that...
BTW, the news about the last Setzer & BSO albums in the official website have never included information about the Japanese bonus tracks.... |

| If you can't wait for the music files, you could always download it from Itunes or something. | |

| You could download it. The way this album is arranged, it was made for downloading. Each tune fades out after the last note and then fades in at the start of the next one, so if you don't want to download the whole album, you won't have this abrupt end because you didn't download the next song. If you listen to music on a portable device in shuffle mode, you'll avoid hearing "Hey, Tokyo! Are you ready to rock this town?" and then have your player skip to the Oompa Loompa song, Beyonce, or Engelbert Humperdink's "Release Me." The split tracks may be good for all the downloadin' kiddies who pick apart albums like vultures. And let's face it, a lot of albums today are crap, frontloaded with 2 or 3 good tunes, if you're lucky. Unfortunately, the fade-outs and ins wreck the feel of a live album for me. I like live albums where the tracks are mixed seamlessly from one to another to create the atmosphere of being at an actual concert, including some of the banter. Most live albums are actually cut from several different shows, so even though it's an illusion, it's one I prefer. The sequence of the tracks suggests that it would be a suitable running order for a show, so chopping them up makes even less sense to me. But I suppose I could set up my music player to crossfade so the gaps (which are very small) disappear completely. "Don't Mess With a Big Band" is not trying to be a definitive live record the way "Red, Hot and Live" and the "Ultimate Collection Recorded Live" are. It's a "highlights" album from the 2009 Japanese tour, a souvenier, if you will. Certainly, the CD booklet/digital download booklet is like a tour program, and it's one of the most attractive features about this collection. If more live compilations are released in this manner in the future, fans could assemble and crossfade their way into creating their dream BSO show, complete with an ultimate trio/small group set. The sound quality is quite good. Much better than the 2004 Stray Cats soundboard recordings, and almost as good as "Red Hot and Live" and the "Ultimate Collection." I haven't been able to find the CD yet, but I suspect the tracks are broken up in this way as well. I would be happy to be wrong. That could be a cool way to do it: split tracks for the downloaders, and a cohesive mix for the CDs. It's neither practical nor rational, but I'm a fan. Those concepts are completely foreign to me. As for a proper review, I've only listened to it once all the way through. I'm gonna have to let it marinate awhile. I'll say this: When I'm at a show, or even watching a DVD or webcast, it's a completely different experience than when I'm just listening to the music. And Bernie Dresel is a National Treasure. For me, his absence is deafening. Don't Mess With a Big Band Indeed-a-billy

| Wise words Rick, Live recordings should be like documents. this is what really happened but I guess we have to face that in these modern times even live albums have "single" tracks.
Today I will go and hunt the cd from our local r & r dealer.

| I went to my local Best Buy last night--of course I got the typical "Who?" Setzer? Is it Lonely Avenue? oh, its Don't Mess..?" etc. etc.----"the computer says we have 2, let me look in the back"---you know how the rest of that story goes, I still don't have it. About a year from now the clerk will be like, "CD's? What are those things?" hahaha!! | |

| I actually saw the Best Buy inventory allocations for this cd in all of our local markets, and none of them had more that 2 units per store. Nice distribution. Anyway, I can't wait to hear it! | |

Very true. I attempted to do this with Rumble in Brixton and the other shows from that tour. The mixes on the soundboard series just did not hold up. Listening to the series releases on their own are decent, but compared to the mix on Rumble, I just cannot listen to my mix of tracks as I focused on the quality drop.

Horton Heat CD and they escorted me to the Religious Music Section! Awaiting Amazon presale delivery today of the "Don't Mess . . ." CD - from the clips so far, this is sure to throw me off the wagon and fill my 6-CD player in my car with all Brian yet again . . .

| Love the "Honky Tonk pt.1" solo bit thrown into Good Rockin' Daddy...the band is deadly tight. I buy all his releases so Brian continues to realease things regardless of their relavance. Would have liked to see some of the more obscure songs, but us fans always do. Don't need to hear rtt or scs...again. But that's what most may want. Sounds great regardless. Gina in the three piece is nice addition... | |

| awesome sound, the band is really tight and Mr. Setzer plays like hell.
This record is a must for all of us.
Btw.: i was a little disapointed when saw the cover first time in the internet. But now in my hands it looks very good. The Gretsch on backside fits to the front cover.

| Finally got a copy yesterday. Agree with Sharky on the cool factor of the acoustic guitar in Summertime, great version. The sound is pristine, the drums and bass are well mixed with the Orchestra, in fact as soon as Batman started, I had a flashback to last Dec!

Its probably a great thing if you dont already own every BSO cd already..but fretteth not...something is comin better than anything. A forthcomin masterpiece for those of us completely insane about the man and his machine. ..and it aint about the Orchestra.
