Time to look back through the years (fortunately for me I don't need to look to far back ) and relive our first concert.
I'm not ashamed to say my very first concert was SUM41. I was 12 at the time, a little punk rocker That gig was one of the last gigs at the iconic Festival Hall in Brisbane - which was torn down soon after. From there my musical tastes matured and I eventually found myself at the whim of the rockabilly gods.
So what was your first concert?

I was 12 as well for my first rock concert. It was Ozzy Osbourne! I was a little head banger!

I am not sure whether this one I am to tell was the first one, but sure it was one of the importants at that time. The band was called Jarabe De Palo, a pop band. I was 12 at that time and I saw them in Aviles, up in the north of Spain, very close to my hometown but the city where I was born. I remember going with a friend, who had a flat there so that we spent the night at his place. 2 weeks later, the band played in Oviedo, my hometown and I attended their gig again. Nowadays I cannae cope with that band, it's the same song over and over again.

Well that must be the Batmobile. They had a gig in my home town in Holland and that must be around 83/84. They just apeared on tv a couple of times before. And I remember tha big double bass stompin' on stage. That was the closest to the Stray Cats around in Holland. First time i Saw them was around 89 in Amsterdam.
They had been here before but I never managed to go earlier. Guitarist/singer(?) at the time had a Telecaster if I remember correct.

First concert (age 10 ) Johnny Cash at the NW washington fair. Second concert (age 10) AC/DC supporting ELO 1978
First concert I went to of my own accord- October 21 1982, The Clash opening for (and subsequently wiping the stage with ) The Who. Single most defining moment in my early life.

My first concert (without parents, and with some sort of rock content...) was Norwegian metal band TNT back in 1984. Hey, I was 14, and all my friends were going...
My youngest son's first concert, on the other hand (apart from the times he's been present at any of my gigs) was Stray Cats/ZZ Top/Pretenders at Jones Beach Theatre during the Jack FM tour in 2007.

Styx. Stood in line outside afterward to have my ticket stub autographed by Tommy Shaw. What a twerp I was! BTW, still have the stub stashed in my "super secret hiding spot" so *no one* knows where it is. Ok, so the last time I checked (25 yrs ago?) it was still there! No one knows where it is....

I was only 4-5 years old or so and my family went to see Ricky Skaggs.
I really do not remember anything about it, except I do remember we got to meet him.
I have a picture somewhere, he had an epic mullet.
My first one that I DO remember...
Brian Setzer Orchestra. I went by meself. I think I was in 9th or 10th grade. Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul, MN. 1995-6 or so?
Awesome night.

Sha Na Na, with my mom. I was 11 or 12.
First concert with friends was The Beach Boys. All day on a ratty blanket in a muddy half-mile, dirt-track infield. Epic sunburn. Two local bands, then America, then the Beach Boys. First time I saw people smoke pot - obviously, I was kind of sheltered.

I was in 9th grade and was allowed to go to Red Rocks with no adult chaperone to see the Blues Brothers. Belushi, Akroyd, Paul Schaffer, Cropp, Murphy, Dunn, Marini..the whole gang. I think my parents figured it was music they sort of were ok with, almost big band like and not 70s rock crap. My best buddy's older brother (he was 16), drove us the 60 miles and somehow we even scored a Colt 45 to split between the four of us. Never seen a better concert, or tasted a sweeter beer since.

Don't you mean Sha Na Na from Woodstock?
They've been around a lot longer than Grease. Actually, when Bear saw them, they were pretty popular, having their own syndicated TV variety show, and bass singer John "Bowser" Bowman was a fixture on many game show panels.
And they're still going! Buzz Campbell played with them on a semi-regular basis in-between Hot Rod Lincoln gigs as recently as 4-5 years ago.

First concert I can remember: The Osmonds! This had to be around 1975, just as the Donny and Marie show was starting to take off. It was one of those State Fair concerts.
2nd concert: June 1977 - Elvis Presley. I wish I could have appreciated it more. I was 9 years old, and although I was really looking forward to the show, I just remember being disappointed that the dude in the white Evel Knievel suit didn't sound at all like the guy who rocked "Hound Dog," "Don't Be Cruel," "Jailhouse Rock," etc.
He would only give two more live performances. Less than two months later, he was gone.
I have since heard several shows from the 1977 tours, and I have to say he still had a pretty strong voice. But I can see where a 9-year-old kid who expected the 1956-57 Elvis wouldn't get it. Youth is indeed wasted on the young...

My current avatar is what I believe the artwork for the new Montreal DVD will look like. Several sites advising future releases have posted it.
Less than 4 weeks away!
I think it was going to be titled "It's Gonna Rock, 'Cause We've Got Tony Pia!" but they changed it at the last minute! LOL!
Seriously, that webcast rocked - Brian, Tony, Spazz, Steve, Tim, and all the rest. I can't wait to watch it again!
