Did you SEE that performance on CONAN with Conan and Jack White? HOLY SMOKES!

They played 20 Flight Rock together onstage on Conan's first show and I was seriously aroused.

LONG LIVE CONAN O'BRIEN!!! cheers

I didn't see it, but I've been a fan of his since the first year he was on tv - '93. Plus he's a Setzer fan! How cool is that?

that was a great performance! I've also heard that Conan is a big admirer of Gretsch...eventhough he was playing a silverburst LP custom

Ah... a little Jack and Cochran to whet my whistle. I can't go too long without Jack you know.

Conan O'Brien and the Legally Prohibited From Television Band released an album (vinyl only) this past Summer on Jack White's Third Man label. It was recorded at Jack White's house and includes 20 Flight Rock, Rock This Town, a rather hilarious take on Polk Salad Annie, Too Much Monkey Business, Blue Moon of Kentucky and King Creole, among others. Not the most musical album I own, but a great time nonetheless.

Rock This Town was intriguing in that it utilized a smaller horn section, and made me yearn for the Setz in a smaller, horn-based boogie woogie woogie rhythm and blues combo, a la Wynonie Harris, Tiny Bradshaw, etc.

Hoy Hoy Hoy Hoy indeed!

OK, Rick, spill it...where'd you find that record? All I'm finding on the 'bay is the single.

Any chance you might be talked into taking some digital video of your record player and posting to YouTube?

edit: Upon further surfing, I found the Third Man site. 12" LP is on back order, so hopefully they're making more.

The backorder thing stinks, but I figured they'd be gone as soon as Conan's show debuted. Here's the direct link:

Conan Live at Third Man

I love Eddie Cochran's take on the "Third Man Theme." I have to wonder if that was the inspiration for the name of Jack White's studio.

I know they champion vinyl at Third Man, but they did relent to release Conan's spoken word single "And They Call Me Mad?" on iTunes. It's a humorous interpretation of the Frankenstein story, and nearly equally as funny is the B-side, where Jack White interviews Conan. I hope the "Live at Third Man" show gets released digitally at some point.

I'm not sure about the Eddie Cochran connection, but I know Jack White is obsessed with the number 3. All of his "Gretsches" have the roman numeral III on them in some fashion. Even the custom grillcloth on his amps that were featured in their Canadian tour DVD had the III on them. He even has his name as "Jack White III" in liner notes in his albums.

I'd love to get some third man vinyl, especially some of the Dex stuff and the copper pressing of Broken Boy Soldiers. I must say I love copper!
