I'm thrilled he received so much recognition so late in life. I saw him in 1994 (he was pianist for the Muddy Waters tribute band) on a blues package tour with Dr. John and BB King. I remember thinking "How cool is it that this guy's still so vibrant and rockin' at age 81?" I figured I was probably seeing one of his last performances. I couldn't have been more wrong. 16 years later, he was still at it.
Rest In Peace, Pinetop
