| Nice pictures Andi!!
However, what surprised me was the pic on page 2... 1990 in Sydney!! There are just a bunch of pics from that time! Super that one!! |

| Definitely one of the better Setzer interviews, gear-wise, I've seen in years. Not really any new information, but meaty. I can't believe his ORIGINAL '59 started falling apart! | |

| I'm not surprised, Ruger... I dont know which model is this one, but if you remember the one he used during 1989-1992... the one he used for the Rock Tokyo... in 1995-96, if you have some pictures, you can appreciate that the front part was darkening/blackening due to the sweat... pity, because to me, that was the guitar Brian played best. I mean this one: [img] [/img] |

| I think you misunderstand... the '59 that "fell apart" while recording wasn't "A" '59, is was THE '59... the one he bought on Long Island when he was a kid!!! (if I read the article right) | |

| The picture above is the Gretsch that Steve Miller gave to Brian, it is not the original Stray Cats '59 that Brian bought for $100.00.

| Awww, you beat me to it, Ross... According to Ed Ball's fantastic book on the history of the Gretsch 6120, Brian owns several vintage 6120's besides the "Steve Miller" (#33767) and the "Stray Cat" (#33024). A quote from the book: - Quote :
- Setzer officially retired the Stray Cat in 2003. Subsequently, he has purchased several other exceptional vintage examples of the single-cutaway 6120, including serial numbers #33718 and #34526.

| from the article:
So what happened to that ’59 6120?
After I played a song on it, two of the frets slid right out, the bridge was all out of adjustment, and I noticed that the neck had become pretty bowed. It wasn’t pretty. But these things happen when you’re dealing with a guitar that’s more than 50 years old.
Has that guitar been a longtime companion?
Yeah, I bought it a long time ago from a guy on Long Island when I lived there,

I thought so too, and I'm very stoked that they asked to use my photos to illustrate such a good interview.

Yeah, I bought it a long time ago from a guy on Long Island when I lived there, Looks like you're right, ruger9. I always thought he retired that one for good after the Stray Cats' Hootenanny gig (in 2003?). Anyway, I reckon he has quite a few "spares"...

| I imagine he just retired it from gigs. Im sure he'd still wanna play the thing since hes recorded every stray cat record with it and i figure some other recordings on top of that. A guitar that great you cant just put down for good. Like a good race horse, youre not just gonna blow out his brains when hes through racing, youre gonna put him out to pasture and breed him occasionally. So I guess in that aspect, he bred the stray cat guitar. hahaha | |

| Just got my physical copies in the mail. OMG, seeing those photos in a magazine!!!! The hilarious/awesome thing is, I took the shot of Setzer with the blue Hot Rod with my cruddy little Canon point and shoot, not with my Nikon DSLR. And, that's the same show that Chris Isaak put his arm around me and sang to me. (Also photographed with the Canon!) Helluva night, that. | |
