| Just had this from Amazon,is it just another rehash of tracks I will already have? Any idea on likely sound quality? Steve http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005SDDBS2/ref=pe_98751_27259601_snp_dpAlthough initially a phenomenon in the UK, parts of Europe (most notably France), Japan and Australia, it was not until the release in 1982 of Built For Speed, a North American only compilation of the Stray Cats first two albums, previously unreleased in that territory, that earned them the huge recognition and success that was to follow. Heavy rotation on the then newly formed MTV music channel drove the message home to American audiences and it wasn t long before their US debut hit the number two spot on the billboard chart and, over the following 18 months, sold in excess of two million copies making it, ironically, their best selling record of all. Regular touring in North America now became essential and it was on one such tour that the Cats first live broadcast was aired. The show in question was played at Massey Hall in Toronto and was broadcast live on both radio and TV. The set features 16 tracks, largely from Built For Speed but also including non-album b-side Drink That Bottle Down and three covers not at that stage featured on any album; Eddie Cochran s Something Else and C Mon Everybody and Buddy Holly s Oh Boy . As bonus cuts, two further cover versions from a radio only broadcast made the year before (31st July 1982) at Stages Music Hall, Chicago completes this remarkable CD - Stray Cats hero Gene Vincent s Important Words and, surprisingly, a superb version of The Supremes You Can t Hurry Love . With a fully utilised running time of almost 80 minutes, and containing some of the finest rockabilly music made since Elvis, Scotty and Bill first came up with this enduring style in 1954 at Sam Phillips Memphis Studio, the pure energy, musicianship, strength of composition and performance here displayed, equally makes for some of the very finest music of the 1980s. | |

| One of my favorite live shows, from Massey Hall in Toronto on March 28, 1983.
It can be found on the following bootlegs:
RUNAWAY (which incorrectly lists the show as "4/28 The Roxy") JENNIE, JENNIE, JENNIE BABY BLUE EYES (again, listed as "4/28 The Roxy")
I'm sure there are other titles but I stopped keeping track.
Sound quality is probably excellent, as it was broadcast on tv and that was the source for the boot recordings.
Don't buy it as you probably have it !

| I'll probably still get it. Completist-a-billy PS - Scatman, I'm about to buy my 5th Lonely Avenue advance. Why don't you get your 8 copies of Runaway Boys and let's go to Costco for an hour. I need mustard! Lots and lots of mustard! | |

| Yes, we are crazycats. Peeeeeteycat even more so.
There are small variations in the inserts/disc advances that make them collectible for some of us, even if they are CD-Rs.
Plus, that's how the Nosey Joe alternate voc take popped up: it was on an advance!......a gold CD-R. Remember?
Now, about the mustard. I decline to make a comment about that on this board.
Great weekend everybody! Scatman | |

| Scatman, doggone right about that CDR thingy... however, there's a Spanish saying that goes along the lines of "ojos que no ven, corazon que no siente" - which means something like "i don't care for what I cannot/don't see" ;-)
Mustard... Pie?? Wasn't that a Led Zep song???? |
