What show is this with the Cats hangin out behind the master LP

This video spotlights a freakin master guitarist/inventor/genius many of
us know as Les Paul... Whats funny is that I stumbled across this video looking
for different versions of How high the moon and lo n behold the Stray Cats are
fartin around the stage in the background. What show was this and is there a
DVD, I'd love to see the whole thing and what the Cats did as well.

I'm not sure, but I think it's some kind of Les Paul's birthday-thing or something... I'm sure somebody else on this board (Scatman...?) knows more about it

It's from "Les Paul & Friends", 08/18/88 at the Majestic Theatre. GreasyKidStuff posted this clip (not the whole show, mind you) for download here on the Lounge a few years ago.

It's available on the DVD Les Paul-He changed the music.

There's a good clip on you tube from this - I think - where Eddie Van Halen plays Blue Suede Shoes with Brian and makes his tapping etc style fit really well into the rockabilly format.

That was actually at the Brooklyn Academy of Music... BAM!!!

I was at a Latin groups concert over the summer and at the end they jsut broke out jamming. Then the lead guitar player busted out in the solo from Ren and Stimpy. Now I wonder, is that solo taken from something or did he just really like Ren and Stimpy as I did. Anyways, id like to impliment that into a solo one time and see if I get any comments. I wanted to say something to him but did not for fear of jackassery

I believe the ren and stimpy vamp is inspired by the works
of Jimmy Bryant and Speedy West. I picked up their greatest
hits from razorandtie.com

If I remember right 1989, same time as the Blast Off Album

I'm fairly certain it's from late 1988. Very good show , I have it on vhs.

yep, thats what the credits on DVD says:

"FILMED ON LOCATION AT BAM MAJESTIC THEATRE BROOKLYN, NEW YORK AUGUST 18TH 1988"

Great show. I bought the DVD last year in a shopping centre...2 Euro (1,50USD)...

No, only one song ""Blue Sude Shoes"

But it is very interesting to see Les Paul playing with his old, tricky guitar.
And don`t forget all the other great musciian at the show.
BB King, Eddie Van Halen, David Gilmor, etc, etc..

If you find the DVD, buy it.

If I remember well, Vincent is right : the show is from late 1988. One of the first when they came back, no ?
