Chevvy5684 review Melb & Adel

Howdy Peoples,

I guess its my turn to say something about seeing Stray Cats for the 1st time since 1990.

Ever since it was announced that the CATS would be touring, Ive been waitin and waitin and waitin. The Friday before the Adelaide show I had a bit of a mishap at work. Got accidently kicked in my right knee from a guy with his steel capped boot. Man did that farkin hurt. Got over the pain that day, went to work Sat and crewing at Speedway Sat night, went to All American Day Sunday, and by the end of that day my knees blown up like a farkin balloon. Couldn't farkin move and I couldn't farkin believe it. Docs on the Mon says I'm off work for a few weeks and I thought cool but Stray Cats Tues night. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. On crutches so had to make the most of it.

If you read the Thebby Theatre bit and see my pics from that night. Had a ball even if I couldn't god damn move that good, I could still whistle, scream and shout, oh and try and sing along too, AND even wave the crutches in the air.

So next was the last show in OZ on the 1st of March. As I said before as soon as tickets went on sale, got the Adelaide ones and we was gunna go to Brissy but then they announced the 4th Melb show so got 2 tickets to that.

We booked our Qantas flights leaving at like 6.45, this is after speedway Sat night too. We got to Melb walked to the motel on Flinders St, dropped off our backpacks and did the tourist bit till we got our room at 1.30. Went off to the Vic Markets to kill the in between time. We were quite stuffed to say the least, but the excitment started to build up towards the end of the day.

We went and had a quick bit to eat, had a cool beverage at the Young & Jackson pub then went and lined up at the Forum.

We moved in not seeing the venue before and bought another t-shirt and stubby holder. When I was buying the t-shirt the dude next to me bought the same 1 and I thought he looked a bit like Picken Pete from these boards. So when we went in bought another beverage, and assumed our position and then I spotted him again and seen Rene and Aussie Sam too who I recognized from here as well so I went over and introduced myself and as they say the rest is history. A bit of small chat and made plans to have another beverage or 10 after the show. We should have moved over to where you guys were seeing how you buggas got to meet Brian afer the show. Man would have loved that. But anyways we loved the show, awesome songs, my knee was still giving me trouble especially after all that bloody walking during the day.

Hearing that band again was a total blast, words cannot explain how I felt. I reckon a few people next to me had ringing in their ears from my whistling. Loved hearing sleepwalk and ubangi stomp. Just blew me away. Loved lustnlove too, actually loved it all.

So I guess I gotta say thanks to "Stray Cats" for finally coming to Oz . I'm back at work tomorrow and a few peeps from work went along to the Adelaide gig so I'll find out what they thought of it. Friends that night too had a blast.

Good to meet you Pete, Rene and Sam. Will have to catch up with you guys soon. Remember Pete, the Lucky 7 gig at the Magill club?? Will be going to the Kustom Kulture Weekend on the Friday night, so might catch you there.

And I gotta say great stories from all you guys too about meeting Brian and your travels.

Hey Paul!

Oh man! I'm so sorry I forgot mention that we met in Melbourne! I remember that you said that you'd had a big day walking around and were pretty tired.

I'll be there all Kustom Kulture Week End helping with my mates stall selling cds, t shirts, etc, come see for a beer! Or 3! You know Lucky &? Really good mates of mine and excellent musos.

It was great meeting you mate. I'm glad you had a ball at the concert. I did hear this really really loud whistle, sounded like it was about 4 or 5 rows back, I gather that was you? It was bloody loud where I was, I'm glad I wasn't next to you The Cat's gave us one hell of a show!!! Hopefully I'll see you at Kustom Culture.

Pete did we chat on the BSO forum?? about lucky 7 at the Magill club?? remember I got mixed up and thought you were in that band?? The hoodoo voodoo dolls?? I think were on the same night too??

I dont know them personally but love their music. Have seen them at work too doing a few gigs.

Will post some pics a bit later from the 1st march Melb show.

And Andi, love your stories too, cant remember if I meet you that night, so sorry if I have and not mentioned you.

We chatted on the Setzer Forum about Lucky7 and HDVD Dolls. I went to the gig and you just left.

Beer next Friday and Sunday then!

Arrrrrrrrrrrrr yes I remember now Pete, my memories coming back to me.........I've been a bit crook this week and haven't been in here, so may not make tonight, more chance to make Sun at this stage.

Hey Paul, yeah KK was great. Some new bands, some old bands as well. Great music and times had by all. Lucky 7 were awesome as usual. Don't know when they're playing next, have to ask Chris my mate, he's their manager, I'll let you know.
You're into your speedway? Any headers for a 302W into a XT GT that you know of?

Hey Paul, yeah KK was great. Some new bands, some old bands as well. Great music and times had by all. Lucky 7 were awesome as usual. Don't know when they're playing next, have to ask Chris my mate, he's their manager, I'll let you know. Sunday was a washout, but the bands still played and people hung around.

Yeah cool glad KK turned out to be a good weekend. Heard that from some other peeps too.

Dont know of any headers for a FORD, sorry dude. Most speedway V8 are chev except for 1 class which uses a 253 holden.

And I'm in a chev club too so your more likey to have a better chance with X lotto than to find some ford pipes in someones shed. But you never know.

If I hear of any I'll ket you know, or give Shaun a call at Advance Headers at Holden Hil. He may help you out.

Besides the Thursday Nite Gigs at the Casino, not sure when Lucky 7 are playing next, will call the boys and ask in the next couple of days.
we doing a show with the JamJets, on May 22nd at Maxim's Wine Bar though if you wanna catch up for a beer. $5 for 3 acts, pretty good value, and I'm sure Rene will front up as well!
