| I know pretty much everyone here has seen the YouTubery of Stray Cats on "Fridays," October 16, 1981, where they performed Baby Blue Eyes, Stray Cat Strut, Rock This Town and Runaway Boys. It was their first ever US TV appearance. As one biography puts it, "The big break on their home turf came when the Cats gave a remarkable performance on ABC-TV's short-lived Fridays. The ensuing sensation won them a domestic recording contract, with EMI Records, which in turn led to the release of Built for Speed, a compilation of songs from their two British albums, plus the title track." Remarkable is right. I can't imagine what it would've been like to see this on television when it originally aired! Anyway, I've found all four songs from "Fridays" in a single, downloadable, very high quality file (your choice of m4v or mov): http://bedazzled.blogs.com/bedazzled/2007/10/stray-cats-on-f.htmlEnjoy! | |

| There is a bootleg DVD-R called "Pink Cadillac" and you can find those clips in excellent quality, together with another show on New Year's Eve 1983 in New York. |

'Pink Cadillac and a Jon Moustache'? (just teasing....) I have that dvd and watch it a lot! The quality could be better though as Kelly rightly says. 'Fridays' were the first time that a certain Mr Tommy Maquire saw Stray Cats.... and from what i've read......he's still getting over it! Life changing experience.... and not hard to see why, fantastic stuff! I don't think a performance like that has been bettered on American tv..... obviously i can't say about concerts there because i never went. | |
