The DM-3 pedal is so old it uses a different power supply than the newer boss PSA-120.
The DM-2, and DM-3 specify the older unregulated power
supply that had a bit more voltage "Boss ACA120 adapter, internal 12v"...BUT info from the boss zone shares..
As long as you use your DM-3 at the end of your signal chain with
a good power supply like the visualsounds ONESPOT or GODLYKE powerall it will run fine even though it
will hum a little... its worth it and will insure it safely powered.

edit:
this was prior to my full employment of the Nocturne Brain Seltzer and
the Mod causes my pedal to respond much more fully than simply running
it through the daisy chain method

Of course I was a stupid sucker to do the PSA mod;
I removed the diode and jumpered it to bring it the "PSA" standard.
this made it quiet and a tad brighter but I almost ruined the fragile
Boss PDB tracings... NOT WORTH IT.. I near tears at one point like "dumbass why dont you leave well enough along, daaaamnit".
All is well and my little sparkly vintage friend is working great!
Truly an awesome analog "vintage" delay.

***Powering ACA pedals with a PSA power supply
Powering
the older pedals designed for 12V DC input with either a newer ACA or
PSA adapter will not work very well. The voltage drop over the resistor
and diode will prevent the pedal from getting enough power and its LED
will usually only glow faintly. The solution is to use a daisy chain
and plug in another pedal designed for the newer ACA or PSA adapter.
The lead between the two pedals will short the resistor diode pair and
the pedal will receive full power.**

So, the best thing for me, as I have a T-Rex Fueltank, would be to use the 12V DC output, before the amp ?

are you using this FUEL TANK now? That should have everything but if not..
ONESPOT.. 1700milliamps of highly filtered power on tap. up to 20 pedals powered (unless you
are running line 6 DL4's) off one tiny unit.
Best thing for 35 bux I ever ever found!! ( I also have a Godlyke powerall, same thing)
Godlyke has the Powerpump for taking your effect to the full 12v if you want

ORDER THE ONESPOT COMBO PACK

or

ORDER THE GODLYKE POWERALL

yes, I am using the fuel tank now, so I assume it should cover it. I known the 12v AC is more or less only for the Replica. As soon as the DM-3 arrive I will check and see how it works.
I think the Reptile has to go Rolling Eyes

Oh sh$t DONT USE 12VAC power, it will FRY your pedal.. 12V DC power only.. The replica is digi so they
are using a different approach...

again since you are using a regulated power supply in a "daisy chain" your pedal will work fine.. The
lower voltage also gives "sag" toward a more tape saturation sound.. its slightly starving the
BBD chip but... mine has worked well for yrs before I even did the mod.

ps. I got a Skreddy Echo coming this week, to try out with the nocturn. Wonder if it'll
challenge the DM-3

No, no no Very Happy only 12 dc for me.

Alright, let me know what you think of the Skreddy. On the home page there were alot of soundclips but not to many with slapback. That is typical with the soundclips of the echo boxes, always alot strange and weird sounds instead of giving us some really nice slapback tones Shocked

Oooh - it will be very interesting to hear your opinion of the Skreddy - it seems like as good a tape delay emulator as is out there at the moment according to all the reports/reviews I have read

I agree it would be nice to hear some quality clips with it as the ones on their site are not the greatest for showing the potential of the unit

cheers

I guess I'm concerned about digi delay pedals at this point, analog
delay pedals that follow this thing fatten up your sound the way
it feels when you plug into a RE301 space echo..

If you plug the same Boss delay infront of the Nocturn it becomes more
crips and hi-fi because Boss pedals use FET bypass not true bypass, so the Boss pedal is passing on a high freq boost to keep the signal from the guitar dynamic in the bypass mode.
Ideally I would like to design a DM-3 analog delay with true bypass and
a bass and treble control so it behaves like the circuit in the RE301...
so ya it will be interesting so see how the Skreddy Echo sounds..
I'm excited..
I have to also buy a BBE Two timer pedal since its the super affordable Boss DM-2 ripoff..that has to be tested as well.

Quite an interesting thread. I have the DM-2 and always wondered what adapter to correctly use. My question is if I will be able to use the 1 SPOT Combo Pack with the NOCTURNE? Isn't it going to be 18v? Inquiring minds want to know?

standard Boss PSA-120 adaptor works perfect, your onespot will
be perfecto!
