The video is eye-catching. I love the intro where Brian rides up to Lee's Liquor Lounge. The first time I met Brian (and Ronnie Crutcher) was right on that corner. It brings back a flood of memories to that June 2006 show in that tiny but legendary bar.

I wish the actual band was in that video, but I know they're hired guns and likely not available for the shoot. I love listening to and watching Kevin McKendree on piano. I just saw him a couple of weeks ago on his regular gig with Delbert McClinton and it only made me more excited for this album. His piano-pounding is the highlight of this tune for me.

As far as the lyrics go, I've never really mistaken Brian for Bob Dylan, but the energy of this tune overcomes any lyrical misgivings I might have. It might not have the edge of Rumble in Brighton or Switchblade 327, but not all of his songs need to be tough and edgy. Sometimes you just gotta have fun. (But seriously, a Shakeweight?) I like it, and I look forward to seeing how it fits in with the rest of the album.

One more week to go...
