25.5" vs 24 3/4" String Scale

I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts about switching from one to the other or if they were comfortable with only one length. I knew a guy who ordered a nice guitar only to find out when he got it that it was a 25.5 and he said that he couldn't play it and sent it back to get a 24 3/4.

I have guitars of both scale types and, although I notice a difference, I don't seem to be hindered by either one. I do think I prefer the longer scale, but not for any lack of playability of the shorter one.

You know, I've often wondered about the difference in scale lengths. I wouldn't think that 3/4 inch, spread over 20-some frets, would even be that noticeable! I have a very cheap Chinese strat knock-off - would that be 25.5? It doesn't get played much now - I got a G5129 Electromatic several months ago. That's 24.75, right? I suppose if I'd been playing 8 hours a day for the last 30 years, I'd notice a difference. But I'm flaunting my ignorance by admitting that I'm not sure of the scale lengths of my own guitars!

I don't even notice it when I switch.
