There are so many brilliant clips on youtube for Brian. From Stray Cats to Nashvillians, 68 comeback to Bso. A lot of folk on here have posted many on Hoodoo over the last year or so. I thought it was about time we found out which of these amazing videos (live, tv, Studio or otherwise) were YOUR most favourite clips of Brian. The best of the best if you like. You can post as many as you like, but please post the actual videos on this thread rather than just a link. That way it's easier to SEE the ones we have here and we won't get any repeats of the exact same video! A different version of the same song is of course excepted! Here's one of my altime favourite clips of Brian. From the 'Live in Japan' 2001 tour. Hopefully you'll add different years of Brian's playing, and we'll get some real highlights of most of Brian's fantastic career. So what's your absolute favourite video clips of Brian? Let's get ALL of them in one place and marvel at what a truely great performer 'The Setz' is!

I wonder whether Brian will ever release a DVD with his solo & BSO clips, like the ones done with the Cats... that would be nice!

My favourite format of Brian Setzer is either the Nashvillains or the CBS band. Wish I had the whole DVD of this gig, I've got the audio version from the Stray Cats rarities site, just great guitar playing throughout!!

Couldn't find the clip I was looking for on YouTube, but it is available for download on the video clips page (same song, Conan O'Brien show). This one's from the Today morning show:

why do I so love the history of Brian Setzer.. I grew up with him literally watching his every move as an artist. From his silverfox "lonely Streets" to the sharing of his musical prowess in Wolfgangs Big Night out, to the dark whiskey years of 68' comeback, the jive n wail of heralding a self reinvention in Dirty Boogie to all the piss n vinegar of youth... the dude is my living legend. Storm the EMBASSY Brian, give em all you got!!!

I went right back to basics and listened to my "Ultimate Selection" CD in the car on the way to work this morning - after hearing them for so long live, or bootlegged, or with the orchestra, you almost forget what the original versions sound like.... it reminded me, I can't forget the video that started it ALL for me.
The looks, the strut, that voice... I was a goner for life the first time I saw it on MTV. Now of course I have a huge appreciation for other aspects of it. That White Falcon - who'd ever seen such a thing in heavy rotation on music television?! And come on - a song with a slap bass solo on the charts in 1983? Talk about groundbreaking. But it was a whole different story when I was a kid
(EDIT: damn, embedding disabled by EMI America. Anyway, it's the original video for Stray Cat Strut)

Found this gem just now. Wicked! 'Cross that bridge' etc.
Andi, that Baby Blue Eyes was the first Cats song Tommy ever saw....he must have fallen off his chair! Rock n Roll!!!
TV, Piss and Vinagar, 'Storm the Embassy' Loved it! I was hoping for a few more like that on their second album. Alas 'Teenage Army' was never released. Apparently that sounded like the 'follow up' to Storm.

From the Paris gig in 1989? Before the shaving of the side hair in 1990! I love this concert.

Steve, what's that "Teenage Army" thingy? An unreleased song? Never heard anything about that, do you know more?

'Teenage Army' was an idea for a song which Brian wrote in 1980 (according to a newspaper of the time. Probably 'Record Mirror' or 'NME') and it was a 'yet unrehersed punky tune on the same lines as Storm the Embassy'. That's all i remember from reading it in 1981. I remember this quote because i was very excited at the time that this song would feature on Stray Cats next album 'GonnaBall'. So i was hugely disappointed when that album came out. I suppose it might have just been the press getting the title wrong. Perhaps it ended up as 'Rebels Rule' on 'Rant and Rave'! Maybe someone could ask Brian about it. Stray Cats changed their musical style so quickly in those early years that such a song didn't represent them by 1982.

The one that started it all. (apart from Tom Cats and Bloodless Pharoahs of course)

Thanks Steve! Maybe it really is an outtake; and maybe, just maybe, someday Brian will release a box set full of outtakes, demos and other rarities.
