Just had an email land in my inbox- the "from" line said "Brian Setzer." Don't that just make your heart skip a beat for a second! Anyway, the fan presale for Reading and Glenside PA starts tomorrow, but the thing I found most interesting was the new VIP packages. It says they will only be available at select shows and on a very limited basis, but generally this is what you get:
MEET AND GREET PACKAGE Package Includes:
* Premium reserved ticket OR Preferred general admission ticket * VIP entrance (where available) * Meet and Greet with BRIAN SETZER * Backstage tour (dressing rooms, production) * Exclusive tour program * Brian Setzer Orchestra Christmas DVD * Voucher for any item in tour merchandise line * Download card for entire Surfdog digital catalog of Brian Setzer albums * Collectible laminate * Onsite event management staff
HOT SEAT PACKAGE Package Includes:
* Premium reserved ticket OR Preferred general admission ticket * Exclusive tour program * Brian Setzer Orchestra Christmas DVD * Voucher for a complimentary t-shirt from tour merchandise line * Download card for a Brian Setzer digital album from Surfdog's catalog * Collectible laminate
Hmmmmm....

I got that email as well and it looks pretty exciting, depending on where those VIP Meet and Greets are going to be offered. The closest date to me is in Greenville SC, so I'll be looking to see what's available for that show. I have a feeling my credit cards are going to take a beating this year!

So I have a question what does "Premium reserved ticket OR Preferred general admission ticket" under the two package deals mean and how is that different from a "Reserved P1 Seat"? (Aside from the price obviously?)

I'm thinking that the premium reserved ticket would be a front-row seat (or very close) in the meet and greet package or the hot seat package. Some venues are not having reserved seats, so the preferred general admission would mean that you get in before the other folks. If you're not looking for the extra goodies that go along with the meet and greet or the hot seat packages, I'd think that the P1 seats would be the better seats to try and get. There should be a venue map that will show you where the P1 and P2 seats are located.
For the casual fan who has money but no time, it makes sense.
Premium seat: $80 Tour program: $15? $20? More? The whole Surfdog/Setzer catalog is probably worth about $150 based on what's on the website - it doesn't say anything about Stray Cats releases so I wouldn't include those T-shirt: $35 Christmas DVD: $18
So that's $300 worth of merch for the Hot Seat package price of $170. Then if you have even more money, less time and are an even more casual fan, what's $445 to meet the guy and get a backstage tour? Hell, I paid $500 once to spend a day touring a zoo, feeding the animals and petting cheetahs. I'd only do it once, but I'm glad I did it.

Of course it's a money making racket and it's not to my taste BUT nobody is being forced to partake. If someone was willing to pay big bucks to meet me ,hey why not ? If John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten (he of the moral punk high ground) can appear in a butter commercial , than more power to Mr. Setzer and entourage. As long as the regular show tickets are an exceptable price than the rest is no big deal. By the way ,I'll be outside my front door tomorrow morning from about 8.30 to 9.00 ,if anyone wants to part with a few bucks.

Hehe Kelley I think what Andi was getting at by saying 'that is one mighty fine email list sign up page' is that she's inferring that people should sign up..

I Would love to see that butter commerical. I remember he was on Judge Judy a few years ago. Some drummer sued him. He was so funny, I however was on his side. Hearing his story. I don't want a holiday in the sun............. Lisa
He is also responsible for a haunting song I so loved from my youth (video below): World Destruction Speak about destruction This is a world destruction, your life ain't nothing. The human race is becoming a disgrace. Countries are fighting with chemical warfare. Not giving a damn about the people who live. Nostradamus predicts the coming of the Antichrist. Hey, look out, the third world nations are on the rise. The Democratic-Communist Relationship, won't stand in the way of the Islamic force. The CIA is looking for other detectives. The KGB is smarter than you think. Brainwash mentalities to control the system. Using TV and movies - religions of course. Yes, the world is headed for destruction. Is it a nuclear war? What are you asking for? This is a world destruction. Your life ain't nothing. The human race is becoming a disgrace. The rich get richer. The poor are getting poorer. Fascist, chauvinistic government fools. People, Moslems, Christians and Hindus. Are in a time zone just searching for the truth. Who are you to think you're a superior race? Facing forth your everlasting doom. We are Time Zone. We've come to drop a bomb on you. World destruction, kaboom, kaboom, kaboom! I'm going out of my mind - that makes two of us- I'm going out of my mind This is the world destruction, your life ain't nothing. The human race is becoming a disgrace. Nationalities are fighting with each other. Why is this? Because the system tells you. Putting people in faceless categories. Knowledge isn't what it used to be. Military tactics to control a nation. Who wants to be a president or king? Me! Mother Nature is gonna work against you. Nothing in your power that you can do. Yes, the world is headed for destruction. You and I know it, the Bible tells you. If we don't start to look for a better life, the world will be destroyed in a time zone! I'm in a time zone Speak about destruction I'm in a time zone Speak about destruction
