JC, thanks for posting that!
Bear, the comments on the video indicate that it's from Japanese TV. It's great to hear him do a "rarer" tune, or at least one that might not go over so well on US TV. I have to imagine that given how strong his following is in Japan, that audience is given a lot of consideration (beyond just bonus tracks) when it comes to choosing songs to put on the CDs as well.
I think he looks particularly sharp in the Rocket Cathedrals video. As an aside, I watched the 1981 Fridays performance on DVD, on my television instead of my computer, for the first time yesterday - it sounded and looked completely different to me, and I've seen those videos many times!! The red handkerchief he wears around his neck in Runaway Boys struck me - along with the rest of the look and the sound - they really did stand far apart from anything else in music in those days. Then seeing Rocket Cathedrals, some 25 years later, still wearing a handkerchief around his neck, and still standing far apart from anything else in music these days! So bloody brilliant!
I was excited to see Le Setz playing the blue Hot Rod again for the Vegas gig, he used it for much of the Murphys show as well. In Murphys he said, "Chris Isaak called me and asked if we could do a gig together. I said, 'lemme check and see if my blue suit is clean, and my blue guitar.' Ya can't come out in jeans and a t-shirt when you play with Chris Isaak!"
Has anyone seen him play the blue Hot Rod before?? I dunno if it's one of those things where once you get a car you start to see that particular model everywhere, but...
(nice to use that again. Been a while.)

I think the Rocket Cathedrals clip is from the same TV Show as the "Back Streets of Tokio" video with Hotei!

Back Streets & Rocket come from a TV show called Music Fair 21, recorded on October 31st 2006, after the end of the Nashvillains Japan Tour

I would love an audio recording of that Duane and Brian duo for peter gunn, as the vid cam's compressor punches in when the orchestra hits and squishes it all to heck. I'd give my right nip to have seen that live..wow!

Those 3 videos are from Hotei Super Soul Sessions. 20 Jan 2007, Nippon Budokan, Tokyo, Japan. In fact, there's an official DVD released (Got it!!!) containing these tracks by Le Setz:
Rock This Town Runway Boys Fishnet Stockings
with Hotei: Back Streets Runaway Johnny
with Hotei & Char: Jeanie Jeanie C'mon EVerybody (there's a clip in youtube) Full Moon Party Battle Without Honor or Humanity (there's a clip in youtube)
Besides, this show was partially aired on the Japanese TV, containing the same set list (plus some other tracks by Hotei & Char) BUT Runaway Johnny has been replaced by Take A Chance On Love

These japanese people...really cool. I like the way they celebrate Rock`n Roll. They have fun and it seems they donĀ“t take everything to serios. (not like in europe)
