Cool Cats: 25 Years of Rock 'n' Roll Style

I've never seen anyone mention this video here. Anybody got it? I have a very badly beat up VHS copy that I bought used ages ago for I think $3 at a record store - remember them?! (actually, the video is not in my possession at the moment - it and everything else I own is STILL being held by customs in LA... sigh...)

Obviously the segments with Le Setz and the Cats are fantastic. If I remember correctly this was the first time I ever heard Brian talk about Eddie Cochran's influence on his look and choice of guitar. But I also seem to recall a cute bit of interview with one of the Everly Brothers. I'm surprised I've never seen clips of this vid pop up on YouTube.

Hey Andi! I've had that from the mid 80's as well as the book from the vid. Very good and has a forward by Ian Dury.

I've never seen that VHS but I my eldest brother has a book called Cool Cats that a friend bought for him in London probably 10 years ago and that nice book, included some pictures of the Stray Cats, but not sure whether it's the same book that Pistol Pete is talking about.

Yes i had that video a while ago. It was copied from the tv and i put it on video. Think i recorded over it. It was quite interesting. Too much Phill Everly from what i remember. Liked the Everly Brothers but wow he had girlie hair in the eighties! Anyway, the bits showing Brian going a long in that hot rod (like the one on the 'Rant and Rave' cover) were the best. I think Setzer looked pretty cool, and talked about Eddie Cochran. There was a little Presley on there (about 3 foot high ) and Johnny Rotten.

I actually do have the original released VHS as well as the book still in my collection. I remember it being $40 back in the mid-eighties but I had to have it at sixteen. It is pretty cool and does have different material than seen in the book.

W00T! "Cool Cats" is once again in my possession! I am so happy to see it again after so many years that I was just dyin' to share it with ya'll. Since I don't have any way to get VHS to my computer, I did the super-low-tech thing and set up my cruddy little video camera on a tripod in front of the television - thus the scrolling bar. And yes, that is my cell phone ringing in the second clip before Brian comes on

I honestly couldn't remember anything about it other than the interview bits, since it's been so long since I'd seen it. But what I uploaded last night is all that's on it of Setzer or the Cats - no live footage, just clips from the videos for Runaway Boys and Stray Cat Strut (which WMG nabbed when I originally uploaded the video, so I had to trim that bit off of the last clip).
