Andi's status......

Hey everybody. This is Andi's Mom. Andi came out of surgery just a few hours ago and one of the first things she said to me was to ask that I register on the Lounge and let y'all know what's going on. I know this place is very important to her and she considers many of you very close friends, so I guess the fact that that was one of her first thoughts coming out of anesthesia speaks to that!!!
Her surgery didn't go as expected and she in fact turned out to be in much worse shape than anyone, including the surgeons, realized. Without going into graphic detail, everything was considerably worse when they got in there than anticipated and they had to do more than anticipated and it took way longer than anticipated. Mom was fit to be tied!!
BUT she IS okay....out of surgery, though in a great deal of discomfort and downright pain. Sadly, she'll be in the hospital for another 3 to 5 days and will come home with a drainage tube in her abdomen for 6 weeks, so the 3 Setzer shows she's slated to attend will most likely be out of the question.....including our Christmas trip to Vegas to share together. Unfortunately, I had to tell her that when she got back to the room after recovery and she was very upset.
It may be a day or so before she can be back online, but I know she'll be in touch with y'all as soon as she can. If there's a way to make her feel any better about missing the BSO Christmas shows she was ready to attend (BOTH LA shows and the two of us in Vegas on the 23rd) I know she'd appreciate it!! I'll be reminding her that she was a verrrrrrrry sick person and according to the surgeon, getting "dead sick by the minute"....so there are priorities.
But I know what the shows mean to her so she's gonna need a lot of reassuring thoughts from you guys.

Great to hear from you and thanks for the update. I'm sure everyone's thoughts, prayers, and positive feelings are directed towards Andi at the moment, as are mine (and I dont' post here that often!)

GIve her the HDVDL love, and we look forward to her being back as soon as she's fit and ready (and not a minute sooner tell her!)

Ginny I am so sorry. I am glad to hear she is in recovery. Sending thoughts and prayers to you, Andi, and the rest of the family.

I know how upsetting it must be but nothing is more important than being healthy and well.

I hope she'll have a recovery that's faster than the speed of setzter's fingers!

Thanks so much for letting us all know how Andi's doing. She's quite fortunate to have a mom like you, and all that love will help her to recover quickly. I'm glad that the doctors were able to take care of everything.

Now here's a bit of unsolicited advice from a gal that's just been through major medical stuff with immediate family members: Go take care of yourself for a little bit, so you can continue to take care of Andi. We often forget that we need to be taken care of too!

Andi's been a beacon of positivity in the HDVDL community. Her enthusiasm for all things Setzer is downright infectious. Here's hoping it's healing as well!

I'm glad Andi is out of surgery and doing well (pain and discomfort notwithstanding).

I will continue to send lots of healing thoughts and love out y'all's way, and hope she's mended lickity split.

I agree with Amity too, while bitterly disappointing (and I do so know how that feels), her being healthy and whole to continue to enjoy life is infinitely more important.

Thanks for the post. Tell your beautiful Daughter that here Aussie family misses her very much. She's in our thought's and prayers. This place isn't the same without her and I'm not just talking about the HDVDL. If if takes a lot of R and R to get better and stronger than she was before, then it's a small sacrifice. That doesn't soften the blow of missing the shows, but imagine how "nuts" she will go at the next ones if she's feeling 100 percent. Also, if we can't see the BSO shows, then she can't as well

Hi again all - update on our girl.........she's had a fairly good day, all things considered. She has a long way to go yet, but I'm feeling real good about the progress she's making already.

I want to thank all of you for all of your kind words, good wishes, GREAT advice and expressions of love and caring. It's very easy to see why this place and all of you are so special to Andi. Thank you all for that.

I wish you all the best Andi. I don't think I have mentioned this but you can sing really well. That song «Just gimmie a comb and a bucket of grease» is a catchy tune, I like it. Did you ever get the tracks you needed?

Christopher, you are very kind. Some months after I originally recorded Comb/Grease I wrote another verse and re-recorded the updated vocals but haven't done anything with them. Still not even sure what key I wrote it in! When they let me go home I'll have to find the vocals and see how bad they sound before I share them here

In the meantime I think it'll be a while before I do any more singing or guitar playing - one look at my belly and anyone would think I was in a horrendously violent fight and now I'm just barely being held together by a looong trail of staples and tubes!

Appreciate your health, folks: play your instruments, run and play with your kids, dance and sing, shout at the top of your lungs - and be glad you can! You miss it like crazy when you can't.

are recovering now "BETTER" than expected and hope you can
receive the blessings from your HDVDL family. I am praying
for a christmas miracle for you. You might not see things as
I do but thats okay, lets start rejoicing right now
in this moment that you are able to post again here at the forum. That in itself speaks volumes considering your moms first post.

My heart goes out to your mom as well, I'm all too familiar with
my own kids and hospitals. Thank God you are in San Diego instead
of bundi (no harm sorry, SD has world reknown Scripts med center..bundi has ..uhm eh.. ..ya)
