| Hi there, i'm roland from the italy. I'm new in the sense, that i finally found the time to actively register, i'm old, cause i've been following every thread now for over 2 Years. I recently ordered the nocturne in colasparkle (or something similar ) and i am really courious about it. My current setup is: Gretsch (David Lee Model) - Fulltone TTE - Fender Deluxe 65 RI. I recently discovered, how to make it sound, like i wanted it to sound. So in the vibrato Channel i turn the bass to 5, Treble all the way up (to compensate the loss of highs from the TTE) and the Volume around 3. Only thing that really bothers me is the fact, that the master volume on the gretsch is useless, when turned down. It's like the infamous mudswitch. Btw.: does anybody know the song Paul Pigat is playing here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVMB01m0ASc&feature=related | |

You're in for a real treat, man! The Nocturne is the single best piece of gear I've bought in many, many years. Re. the master volume, our in-house guru Tavo has been recommending a treble bleed modification to the Gretsch pots, but since I never turn mine down (!) I haven't bothered checking it out. I'm sure Tavo will tell ya more about it, though. Oh, and welcome "aboard"

I'm sure Tavo will tell ya more about it, though. I have the same problem with my Gretsch master volume too when the Nocturne pedal is on: When the Nocturne pedal is on I get an awesome sound when my Gretsch master vol is on full ( 12 o clock). It stays at the same volume when I turn the Gretsch master vol down to about 10 o clock and then the volume drops extremely dramatically from then on. So I have no useable volume taper ( its actually more like an on/off switch). I had a TV Jones treble bleed kit installed to my gretsch but it hasnt give me the volume taper back. I have compensated by keeping my guitar volume pot on full all the time which, on balance, is a far better compromise than not using the Nocturne pedal at all ( cos once youve used the Nocturne pedal there's no going back!)

| Hi Booty, hi Gretschoholic: thanx very much for the reply. And yes, i thought that the best solution is to keep the MV at full throttle. BUT, you know how it is: watching le setz playing with the MV w/o loosing anything, sometimes i think to myself, what a wonderfull world it would be, if the same trick will work on mine too | |

Setzer is able to do this because he inadvertantly jacks up his capacitance with 50ft of guitar cable to the re301. Since my nocturne is compensating for that at its input this makes your master volume's taper kinda wacky and it needs to be all the way up. I have found my answer by installing a cap and resistor across the wipers of my master volume but I do have my tone circuit completely bypassed like a setzerhotrod. I've heard that just using the cap across the wipers instead of the resistor actually works... Anybody tried a volume pedal after a nocturne? I never thought of that till now , I should go pull out my morley volume pedal and give it a go.

I have no volume pedal...and I need to get a volume kit for my SS. I wonder how a germanium fuzz works after a Nocturne? Usually an old skool type germ fuzz wants to be first. I must get my Jimmy Page on come next week. David Lee Falcon?!? that is a drool worthy guitar!

| [David Lee Falcon?!? that is a drool worthy guitar![/quote] I'll try that Volume Pedal trick. Maybe it will really work. As for the David Lee, yes, it's my favourite Guitar (ok, as for now, because, to be sincere the new Country CLub 6196TSP would be way cool). I had a Black Phoenix, awsome guitar, but not the one i liked, a White Falcon Lacquer, too many sparkles, and then the David Lee came out: right pickups, not too flashy, a little bit like an undercover falcon, replaced the RBB with a Tru Arc, and i definitely dig the Bigsby with the big handle | |
