| tell me that wasnt the coolest! So awesome! I was excited just bein able to be there via streamin on my computer with JBL monitors. Brian is FREAKIN BADASSS man, the dude can still just KILL. Saw lots of weird little glitches in what songs they were or were not gonna do but he'd come back swinging and blow the doors off the city. For some goofy reason I just really feel proud of him tonight. Really proud that he just keeps it goin and its powerful. Brian just oozes rockabilly royalty. It pours from that guitar, from the band.. they too were on Fire! I mean I would be happy to never hear rock this town or stray cat strut or jump n jive ever again, but sheeze dude all the other songs ESPECIALLY Trouble train were the bomb! He blew up Montreal, how will the others clear the smoke from the wreckage???? Aint gonna happen baby. | |

| Well, it was a drag to wake up in middle of the night to watch that show with lo-fi vid and buffering..... And find out that you can catch rerun for a month without streaming problems. Thanks.
Show was mostly OK and SetzDaddy was on fire, a little nervous at the beginning. And I think that band was more on top of their game way better than last summer. But it`s like `95: "by the time we hit Montreal we were a band". So it`s touring that really makes band tight and this was just a gig. Very big one though. Really glad to see Tim and Robbie still on the bandstand. But I guess I`am only one who miss Mark W. Winchester to kick it up to a another level (or Setz`s ass). And is really necessary to always extend that SC Strut end? Luckily this time Sleepwalk`s end was fine, whole song was.
Most annoying thing is that same old thing: You came to see big band - we give you trio. You came to hear BSO songs - we give you SC songs and some old standards. We have bunch of new songs - but we won`t play those `cause you might not know `em. I mean come on man, just 2 song from the latest!!. Well, last year it was 1 from Wolfie. And when you go to Stray Cats concert, they play songs from Gene, Eddie & co like 10000 other RaB bands. F..k. Free show? Can I still have my money back?
But big thank`s anyway to BSO and Montreal Jazz crew, Nasse
BTW To play on top level, it`s better to be also fysically in good shape. Let`s not forget it either on other levels

| I think you missed something, it was Montreal Jazz Fest not a Setzer tour show. other countries rally behind major productions unlike us americans. Canada is quite obviously proud of its Jazz Festival and felt honored to have the American big band present... thus Setzer played to more than just a cross section of people let alone dyed in the wool fans. It was marketing brilliance, this is how he makes his living selling tickets and albums and also why we seeing the release of yet another big band compilation.
What I dont understand are the cheap shots at Setzer as we watch him move into his prime, silver fox and all.

| just watch it again, there is nothing to complain. Fantastic show and awesome musicians all of them. The sound engineer need a few minutes. But thats normal for a big band and an outdoor gig. Don`t forget broadcast sound is not the stage sound. The guitar sounds amazing and the intro of "cats on a hot tin roof" is the best i ever heard. | |

| Yo guys...just finally got to a computer to watch. Sounded even better live but they did a pretty good job for the streaming. I thought the whole thing was fantastic. Perhaps I'm biased as I was there and all...but other than having to listen to Gene and Eddie, yet again...loved it all. Besides, when they play songs you don't want to pay strict attention to, you can take in the rest of the band better. Btw Tavo, you can best find me right at the beginning...just as the camera is moved a little to the right and the announcer starts talking. I'm right at the bottom right talking to my girl friend and I'm wearing glasses and my gretsch work shirt. I'm also 6'4"...so it makes me easy to find... | |

| A few pics from my trip to Montreal, some even have Setzer in them. This is the night before the show in Montreal.....my friend Kim, whose husband is one of the sax players got in and met us at our hotel, we headed out in the rain to a cool little pub and hooked up with BSO Vixen Leslie. After that, we hit a cool rooftop patio. I say it was cool, but it wasn't. Because I am DAMN afraid of heights. And have no idea how we ended up there. That wasn't the best part though, the best part was running into Setzer Superfan #1, who I think was trying to devour Leslie. Kinda freaky to see the psychotic look on some people when you mention Brian's name. Anyway, after she was done salivating, we got her to take this picture The band was wickedly delayed on the flight in, so they met us at about midnight. By this time, we were starving. We hit a restaurant in old Montreal that was already overflowing with people, and loaded a band in there as well. The best part of dinner? Spazz Hatton. That guy is a RIOT. My friend Craig was a little wary of him. But he definitely made the trip for me. After that late night, we all crashed, but the next day got the chance to wander around the festival for a bit. I haven't been to Montreal in ages, so it was a good time. The weather was alright too, seemed to get cloudy and then sunny and hot, then cloudy again....I thought it was alright, but man, those cats from LA were complaining a lot. Soundcheck was cool, Brian wasn't there so it was a chance to hear some BSO tunes without the guitar and vocals, very jazzy. And speaking of Jazzy, this is Steve, one of the funniest guys ever. We were goofing on people (of course, not from the BSO ) who show off a bit for crowds when they're warming up....Steve gave his example of what NOT to do. Soundcheck was pretty casual, but the few people who were out there for it (before it started getting crowded) were getting into it. Spazz and Tim..... Charlie.... Julie and Leslie run through Sexy and 17... And...I was there. See? SEE? More coming in a minute....... | |

| After the soundcheck, we took went out for dinner, but stopped in to check out a cool rockabilly trio on the way. they were so good, we checked 'em out on the way back from dinner, too. I can't remember if it's from here or another forum, somebody mentioned that their band was playing the festival and that they were a rockabilly group. This might've been them, but I didn't take any pictures because it was crowded. Anyway, Spazz enjoys poutine....I don't enjoy having my picture taken. This is a couple of hours before the show, from the balcony......crazy down there, but a good band playing. Nice horn section. Very relaxing up there, especially after dinner....sleepy. After that band finished, it was getting dark, and people were heading over to the BSO stage. This one's dark, but gives you a good idea of the volume of people. We booked it over so as not to miss the opening, and it was insane over there. As I mentioned earlier, some guy was screaming at me for something (he looked wasted, so I think he was just irritable), but it was French, and my french is not very good. I think that he said I stepped on his toe. Or maybe it was, You're too tall to be standing up here, lanky. Anyway, Setzer walks on to some pretty impressive applause, given that there were over 100,000 people there? | |

| Here's one of the whole stage...whoever said it was a really high stage was right. You could get some serious neck strain going on from that view. Good stuff for Charlie....I didn't know that it was being webcast while I was there, but there was some mumbling made that the set would be recorded, and that there would be cameras. Charlie got mad camera time, but also one of these, which was pretty rare, during True Love.... Charlie gets to solo with Setzer. Awesome. These pictures suck because I was watching it while trying to snap the shot. Man, check out this crowd shot from the front of the stage.... Kinda looks like he's comig to smack the camera out of my hand, doesn't it? Setzer's slingin' that guitar...on his back. | |

| Leslie at the front of the stage....her and Julie got called up to "Sing a song" with Brian, who then started playing Caravan. Anyway, after that it was Sexy and 17....with a candy-apple Hot Rod. Droooooollll..... Ew. Blurry. Getting better....... And when all else fails, post a Vixen picture. | |

| you deserve a medal!!
btw.. gives us the down low on that "Caravan" moment.. was it those dopey dancers on that center stage that threw Brian Off? Or was he not thrown off, trying to give the crowd the grammy winning instro but no one would follow his lead because it wasnt scripted?
inquiring minds wanna know

| Hey Brent, I figured that you were up front! it was crazy, huh? Anyway, i don't know what was going on with the dancers or that Caravan moment. It definitely wasn't in the script either way, but I think that Tony started that drum riff and that was it. Wish that they would've kept it up, but i guess that Leslie and Julie woulda been bored up there. | |
