I have it on VHS-1 or should say have had it since it first came out like 20+yrs ago. Only ever used it
as a gear and guitar/amp tone reference.... insane i know

great DVD but i never played and practiced it all.

I played along with this for a bit last evening. Question for those who've seen it in its entirety: What other songs besides Too Hip does Brian cover?

On the DVD you will find 12 exercises about "to hip gotta go", Brian explain every single lick. Plus a Finger picking excercise. (this weird Setzer picking...crazy)

Additional performances are:
too hip gotta go
Double stop solo
sleepwalk
drink that bottle down
Rock this town
20 flight Rock
all performances are just Brian and the Gretsch.

a MUST have for every Fan and guitar player.

There's also a section on the dvd where it plays the licks at half speed! That alone makes buying the dvd a must! Plus all the Tabs are in an included booklet..............

Well, it depends on the DVD version you have.

The early ones had the original cover of the old VHS tape and lacked the intro sequence starting off with Brian telling his pick technique. This version doesn´t contain any extras.
The more recent version has this two-tone cover in pink and green, an introduction by Arlen Roth and a menu section which also allows you to see all exercises at half speed with pitch raised to normal.

I have to admit I got the VHS back in the nineties, swaaped to the first DVD version when it came out (the VHS was pretty worn) and then invested in the recent version too acouple of years back. "Too hip gotta go" worked out fine, the picking stuff is also great but what really confuses me is the Jazz chord substitutionn stuff. This starts off easy enough but when Brian turns to the substitutions on "Drink that bottle down" I have no idea how he progressed from the standard E blues pattern to the beefd up jazzy version. Jazz has been confusing me ever since 1987.

Anyway, even if learning from the DVD might me difficult at times it´s always big fun to just sit back and enjoy watching it. And remeber: "It´ll happen for you!".

that's been my outlook on learning a lot of songs! Heck, I think it's my outlook on life sometimes
