| I might be a bad person for what I´m about to say, but I just don´t understand the need of releasing the same cd with a different cover for how many years now.... 5?? 6???
Brian has enough talent to make new recordings and not re-releasings over and over.
I do understand that this is a "record company" decission/strategy, that will come along with a christmas tour, but man.... that record is getting old.
Just my opinion. | |

| But it's not the same CD, David. Look at the track listing. It's a "Greatest Hits of the Brian Setzer Christmas Orchestra" CD, comprised of the best of the two Christmas albums, plus one unreleased track, plus a couple of rarities. The only thing that's the same, and a little misleading, is the DVD.
Did you really want a brand new Christmas album?
To be fair, if you only bought the original 2002 Boogie Woogie Christmas release and DTCC, you would not have Santa Drives a Hot Rod, Let It Snow, Christmas Island, Bach's Bounce, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, or Take a Break Guys. Most people who post here have most of those, so there's not a lot of value there. But I'm guessing we're not the target audience for this product.
I mean, it's not like you could load those discs onto iTunes and make your own holiday comp...
Oh.
Nevermind.

Not-Rick-but-Scatman-a-billy So I take it you're not waiting in earnest for that Elvis - Carrie Underwood duet? How 'bout The King and Anne Murray? Was Helen Reddy unavailable? I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar-a-billy | |

| is Clay Akin on it? seriously.. here's a challenge.. take all Brian's Christmas Cover tunes and find the original singer of them. Make a HoodooVoodoolounge CD to share or at least an Itunes mix. I know I need something more than Squirrel Nut Zippers Xmas to simmer the schmaltz of mall muzak this season. I'll post one later tonight. | |

| While we're discussing different Christmas CD's; has anybody checked out this one? Colin James & the Little Big BandHe released his first "...& Little Big Band" disc around the time that Brian released his first one with the Orchestra. I kinda like all three of Colin James' "ordinary" big band efforts (not too keen about his guitar sound, though...), but I never heard about this one untill recently. I see he's done some of the X-mas tunes that Brian already did, too (he's got balls, I'll give him that ). Probably worth checking out...? Anders | |

| You know....it's a little known secret up here in Canada, but Colin James was actually fronting a "little" big band a number of years before Brian, with the guitar out in front. Colin's style is more blues influenced (Stevie Ray-ish) than Brian's rockabilly/jazz. But fear not my friends...I was into Brian and the cats from about 1981 on and it wasn't until Brian's first big band album that even I thought it had really been "done" because Brian did it so well. That being said...technically, Colin kinda did it first. I'm sure Brian was unaware. Colin James isn't bad but Brian is the king! Except for Elvis, of course. | |

| I love the Colin James Little Big Band. I can't believe I missed the Christmas album.
His first Big Band album was release in late 1993, mere months before the BSO's debut. It's tough to compare the two - as you pointed out, Colin James lives more in the jump blues/rhythm and blues small combo feel. That first BSO album had a couple of jump blues tracks, but dabbled in a wider variety of material.
If you get the chance, buy all three of the non-Christmas LBB albums - you won't be disappointed. He may not be a guitar slinger on the level of Setzer, but his band is really, really good!

| Yeah, I got the Colin James album when it first came out in 94 and I played the hell out of it , but not in along time. I never heard any more of his stuff though. It swings a little more than Brians first album but Brians playing is better and more listenable over the long term. And while we're talking about this kind of music, if anybody doesn't have the Honeydrippers Vol 1. they're missing out big time. There's an awful lot of great music of all kinds out there but where I live i(in Ireland) no one knows about this music I love ,it's like having a big secret ,bursting to tell everyone and no one is listening. | |
