Best DJ of the world...?

Dutch DJ Armin van Buuren is voted best DJ in the world.
Is his music known in the US. Is DJ 'music' hot in the US?
To me it sucks big time....

I don't DJ's as music makers or artists at all. They are ok in rock & roll-parties etc, otherwise they stink.

Of all the many things that I 'don't get' about music today the DJ issue is by far the most confounding. Let me check here...people play other people's music - occasionally at the same time as another piece of music cos the beat is similar and voila they are a creative artist??!!

I think the the whole concept of the celebrity DJ is insane - people go to clubs to 'hear' a specific DJ??!! He's playing OTHER people's music - what is his value??

If you ever listen to any of those old 'Cruisin' albums that came out in the 70's they have the original 50's DJ's linking the songs - that kind of DJ is OK - in fact if you play those albums in your car whilst actually 'cruising' ...(ahem -says me in an 8 year old Fiat Punto!!) - the mix of old ads and DJ's etc is like a virtual time travel experience!!

I have a feeling a lot- if not all - of the DJ spots were re-recorded for the albums - but always hope I'm wrong about that!
