Oh man, what a night.
That was a lot of fun. We showed up to the orpheum as Totsy was playing, and it took quite a while for the usher to figure out where our seats were, but, it was all good. Totsy was pretty good, Jenny remarked about Beth Curry looking like Katy Perry. Her attire was very reminiscent to what Katy Perry might wear.
During the intermission, Jenny asked if Brian had a brother. I remembered the "Rockin by myself" album, and said yes. She said "is that him?" I looked at a guy a few rows ahead of us, and, he did look kinda similar to Brian. I quick googled Gary Setzer, and a picture from the Rockin By Myself concert came up... oh, it was totally him.
Brian and the band came on right at about 9pm, and I think we stepped into our car at around 11pm. It was packed full of music.
For the guitar heads, one of the stage guys brought out a white gretsch (pic in the link) and did a soundcheck with it. It was sexy. It was not used during the concert.
Brian got a HUGE standing ovation when he came out to the sold out crowd, it was very nice to have such an opening statement to the night.
Brian mentioned how he came a whole 6 blocks to get to the show tonight, and we should all appreciate that! He mentioned his hot rodding buddies were in attendance.
Boogie woogie santa claus musta gone 12 or so minutes, several solos, very fun.
Then Brian asked us if we had heard of this Justin Bibber guy. Said he had been running around with a pompadour. Well, Brian has been running around with that same haircut since 1980! Don't Steal My Haircut!
In the middle of the show, Brian welcomed Danny Glass to the band, he got a very warm reception. I did like his enthusiasm, but, I may get punished for what I am about to say, but, he made some mistakes, I think they shoulda hired me. There were several times he just seemed sloppy, missed cues. It was probably first night of the tour jitters, and I am sure he will be spot on the next show, but Brian, if you are reading this, I can hop in my corolla and meet you at the next show if you need me!
Fishnet stockings blew the damn roof off the place.
Rock this town figure out a way to use awesomeness to put the roof back on, then blow it off again.
All in all, it was a wonderful night. Jenny and I have ringing ears, we are tired, we are happy, we are ready for Christmas!
Here is a link to the pictures from the show that I was able to take. The security guards were harping on everyones good time, shutting down cameras left and right. I took a pic of the merch area for the interested parties. General selection of t-shirts and a hoodie, a keychain and then a tin of picks as well.
