| In honor of tomorrow being the release date of the new Bond film: I thought I'd start a 007 discussion, and ask three things. Q1. What are your top five favorite Bond films? Q2. What are your top five Bond songs (besides the Bond theme)? Q3. How would you rank the actors playing Bond (best to worst)? Here be' my answers: Q1: 1. Goldfinger 2. Thunderball 3. The Spy Who Loved Me 4. Octopussy 5. Goldeneye Q2: 1. Goldfinger 2. Diamonds are Forever 3. All Time High 4. A View to a Kill 5. Never Say Never Again Q3: 1. Sean Connery 2. Roger Moore 3. Pierce Brosnan 4. Daniel Craig 5. Timothy Dalton 6. George Lazenby ...Well that'll be all then. Capt. Jones | |

| In no partiucular order (I can't make up my mind):
Goldfinger From Russia With Love License To Kill The Man With The Golden Gun Goldeneye
I like all the Bond music!
I think most of us would agree that Sean Connery is THE James Bond. Signature Bond style - that's Connery.
I also really liked Brosnan as Bond, and Mr. Craig is doing alright so far, I think. However, even though I think Connery is the best... Roger Moore is my favorite.

| I can only answer question 3.
1. Pierce Brosnan 2. Sean Connery 3. Daniel Craig 4. Roger Moore 5. George Lazenby 6. Timothy Dalton
Pierce was made to play Bond, to me, he optimized everything I pictured about the character. Roger Moore never came close to Sean Connery imho.

| "Thunderball" just started on the tube where I live. To me, what make Sean Connery "the man" is that after he kills someone in the opening scene & is about to exit, he stops to straighten his tie, then throws a vase of flowers on the deceased & heads out the door. IMHO, Roger Moore's Bond would have killed the bad guy, finished his martini, and went out the door into the next room where a girl would have been waiting to have sex. Roger Moore just always has this look about him that says, "Can I have my martini now?" or "Can I get laid now?" IMHO!!! Opinon, my opinion only!!! IMHO, Timothy Dalton, would have killed the bad guy, left the room and taken off in a sweet ass foreign car to find another hot agent to take out his "secret service frustrations" on. It's just the small differences between the Bonds that makes them unique. Sean Connery had just had his agent sex BEFORE he even killed the bad guy in the movie. Not trying to stir up trouble...it's just the way Bond is. Cool cars, awesome gadgets, hot women...and martinis (shaken not stirred). And now....back to "Thunderball" | |

I agree. I was going to say something like this earlier, but I didn't quite know how to put it. I said Roger Moore was my 'favorite' Bond, but I also said I think Connery was the 'best' Bond. I watch these movies, like them all and love most of them, but I find that Roger Moore has some subtle on-screen habits, or tendencies that I find hilarious. I don't know if he's just a natural, or what the deal is... but he combines the Bond style with his own funny-man flavor. A lot of my friends think I'm crazy when I say this, so I just keep it to myself. I guess some people just watch the Bond movies for the babes and the bullets. Bond, babes, bullets! Still, not bad! CHEERS!

Dave Yeah, I forgot that the worldwide premiere occurred earlier, but the date for the Caribbean was last Fri. Just to add a little bit of trivia/extra to the discussion about the best/favorite Bond, I don't know if any of you are aware of this, but Sean Connery actually wasn't the first choice to play Bond. Believe it or not, Ian Fleming actually had Roger Moore in mind for the role of 007, but he was signed to another project at the time and wasn't available. While going through casting shots/portfolios of possible actors, one of the producers remembered a young actor named Sean Connery that he had seen/met in another picture, and they gave him a screen test for Dr. No, and the rest is history. Imagine how different things might have played out if Moore had been the original Bond? Second trivia note/extra, they almost didn't record the Bond theme by John Barry as the title track for Dr. No. Instead, up until towards the end of the cutting/editing process, they were prepared to use Underneath the Mango Tree as the theme. Good thing they didn't, or we'd never have ArtVandelay's posted video. Anyway, I agree that each actor brought something different to the role, but I think it also depends on what style of Bond film you like to see as to which actor you prefer. Also, in terms of who looks the most like the Bond character, that is something totally different than the best/favorite actor, as to me Brosnan or Dalton would win that contest. Personally, the Timothy Dalton (serious) or George Lazenby (offbeat) takes on Bond were not my favorites. Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig have each done their best to reinvigorate the franchise, but to me they still come behind the classic Bonds of Moore and Connery. That's not a knock on their acting abilities or their requisite films, as I think Goldeneye is one of the best films of the franchise and Casino Royale is great too (awesome title track You Know My Name would've been #6 on my list, although I don't like the fact that they've dropped some of the classic elements: Q-branch, the martini line), but more or less the fact that they haven't done as many films, and there hasn't been enough time to evaluate them against the other movies. Again thanks to all of ye for the comments and answers. Capt. Jones

Capt. Jones I heard an interview with Daniel Craig here in Oz this week. He said since the series is a reboot they will introduce the "classics" as the series goes along. He signed up for 4 films, so chances are we will see DC with some of the classic Bond elements. I heard there's no Moneypenny in this film either. Bond's reply to the Bartender asking if he wanted his Martini stirred or shaken in Casino totally cracks me up. I'm really looking forward to this movie. René-a-pony
