3 6G6-B bassman amps and cabs on eBay

Both of the chassis look really really clean., and the wiring does not remind a bowl of pasta.

I missed out on that 6G6-B on the ebay due to being lost in the weekends chores...7 inches of snow friday after a 50-60 degree week, so after shoveling that I went ahead and did a top-to-bottom house clean, and re-strung my Spectra Sonic (and properly set up the pups....GLORIOUS what 2/32's of an inch can do.)...the Gretsch/TopHat combo came alive during the test drive.

So the Gomez has more girth to it than a '63 does?

not in tone, the feel is a tad more brutish... the surf guys like this especiallythrough

I had the Fender Vibrosonic 1x15 combo.... whoooweee that was a jackhammer of a clean amp. they renamed it after the pedal steel guys wouldnt buy it, hoping jazz guys would give up their solid state Polytone mini brutes.... what a crazy amp now its called the JAZZ KING

They should just call the amp the "Kleen King" or "clean king".


Since I never played a 6G6-B, repro or original, it'd be hard to tell what the "girth" would be and would it be for me, until I played one. I defintely like to rock and roll, then I like to put on some delay and get really atmospheric and ambient --> My Twin Reverb RI was great at this...but try to get it to break up with out a drive pedal was crazy...and the CR has some great cleans but to stand up to a drummer who hits hard the headroom gets sapped up fast. Right now, I only need a decent enough clean (maybe a little gritch) 15% of the time. Right now I'm still wrapped up in vintage tone vs. modern reliability...why can't a guy have both?

I'd never do a single 15''. I do like the spread of 2x12's...2x15's would be ridiculous, after having my head taken off a few times at Dick Dale shows (two blonde showman and two 2x15 cabs...). I wonder what a 4x10 set up would sound wth a 6G6-B?

you rebuild a Fender point to point amp proper and its more reliable than the neighbors chihuaha humping the garden gnome every morning!

The trouble would probably be in finding the local tech that would do it up right, but I guess there isn't anything too extreme with these...parts are there and there aren't any bells and whistles.

Everything thing sez' early 63' EXCEPT for the power Transformer codes indicate a replacement from a 69' bassman... Sucks... (all original caps save for a few ill chosen electrolytics..even the astron cap across the rectifier is original)
He's got a reserve on the price too..

I need to learn what those codes mean. I'll have to see if the fender amp book I have tells what they mean.

I'll pass on that one...shipping looks like it's a little high, but I imagine an amp and 2x12 speaker cab plus box and packing material aren't featherweight either.

There was an El Sonido and 2x12 cab up for auction for about 1600+60 shipping. I must have not put it under my watch because I didn't get any notices for it and when I went to check back the auction was gone. It had an oxblood grill as well.

The only ones I know about here in Norway (not that I claim to know much.... ) 'cept mine, are two blondes and one transition model. That said, I've never EVER had an amp that sounded as good. Totally worth the price! And it's versatile; my son's hardcore band even borrowed it in the studio.
