Much of all guitar building is hand made, even if they use CNC machines to route the bodies,necks and pickguards. The rest is pretty labor intensive.How else could you make a hollowbody this nice, the japanese make anything we make, much nicer IMO.
Building a guitar is a pain in the ass, I have built about 10 complete guitars and I hate how much work is involved. Mostly the finish stuff.
Gretsch has the superior touch on production guitars, fender has done
a nice job seeing that its done right. I know Fred Gretsch deserves props for realizing that FMIC needed to make his stuff !
The pro line gretsch guits are made at Terada and thats where your guitar hails from.
A few custom shop models are from corona but those are the $$$ version.
