Phantom, Rocker & Harvey version is wild but - in my opinion - very far behind Stray Cats (probably a question of guitarist level...)
I thing the new version with Phantom, Rocker & Harvey is much better and powerfull. The Stray Cats version is a bit like the Original Cool album, very nice but no balls

About Phantom, Rocker & Harvey, it's cool but, as Hub said, far behind Brian Setzer.
I was not comparing Harvey´s playing with Setzer´s. I was just saying that overall, that´s a cool weird cd.
Of course, I would have loved all 3 Cats doing that same thing.
What was also strange, is that the cd had no kind of promotion, and it is actually hard to find, I think . It was only announced at Lee´s website for a few days/weeks, but that was it. Lee never had it at the merch booth at his gigs either.

Last: Elvis '70ies
I´ve read and heared Elvis´Mafia members say in documentaries that Elvis did not really enjoyed singing most of his 50´s or Sun hits in the 70´s, and he was kinda "forced" to do it cause he knew the audience was demanding it. Proof of that, is that when he did, they were all thrown in a "medley" type of song, so he didn´t have to go thru them deeply.
If it´s true or not, I don´t know. But that may explain why, for example, this 70´s cover of Baby Let´s Play House is not as energic or wild as the original one.
Plus man.... you can´t beat Scotty Moore´s original sound! WHO would have been Elvis without Scotty Moore?
I think history wasn´t and is not fair enough to this man:

I think history has been fair to Scotty Moore. Guitar mags write articles about him all the time, other players name check him, and he still draws a decent crowd when he tours. Not bad considering he never really played lead on an Elvis recording after early 58.

I feel it's a bit harsh to judge the Elvis 1970 version of 'Baby, let's play house' because it's just Elvis mucking about in rehersals! It therefore hasn't got the SOUL of the original. Elvis on his day in the 1970's was still better than anyone. He made some incredible songs and versions of songs in that time period....but this rehersal version isn't one of them. Although the concert afterwards is quite stunning (That's the way it is 1970). So that brings us neatly to the Cats version.... I can't compare it with the original 1955 recording because how can you compare Elvis with Setzer or Scotty Moore's guitar with Brian's guitar? I did this once.....and i won't again! Stray Cats version is good, also live. Brian keeps a lot of the guitarwork the same as scotty's. Adds that Setzer touch of course. But the sun sessions are classics. The echo and the freshness still comes through today. This was brand new music! Rock n Roll was still a baby. When i've seen Stray Cats live i prefer their original songs. So i won't compare but 1955 was a very good year for the Hillbilly Cat!

This one sounds very much like the Elvis version......minus Elvis and Scooty.....but plus Billy Fury!
