But I do have an idea of why things can be that way, for what I´ve learned in my years living in your country... and it is that over here in Europe we don´t necessarily need to be "politically correct" like in the US, if you know what I mean, while in Europe we speak our minds out not really thinking in the consequencies of what we say or in the real/deep meaning of our words. lol!: nah, i don`t think so. TV was far away from any political correctness. (No offense TV, i like clear words and you are a cool guy) For me it was surprising, week over week BS is the best and from one moment to the next it change in a massive way. For what? And yes, from a lot people who won`t go to the X-Mas shows.... In my country a lot of ***-Billies are railing against the Cats and BS, but when the Cats are playing a Gig everybody is at the place. So, i don´t care about this talking so much. Let them making money as much as they can. Btw: i don´t think with these Meet & greet packages Surfdog or the BS managment reaching a higher level in buissness. Never. They`ll make money with selling records and sold out shows. Don`t take so serios...this my motto. Normal life is tough enough... Nice weekend.

Sorry Jon, that´s bull. I am working for the entertainment buissnes here in Europe and for a lot of projects in the world. (also Touring and single shows) Everbody is selling merch, offers meet & greet packages, Poster, records, Books, god knows what more. Otherwise you cannot do a tour. Believe me. Try to rent a location for a show, order the security, Lightcompany, Soundcompany, technicians, catering service, etc.. What they do is ordinary buissness.

| I think we would agree more about the VIP package being a rip-off if it came at the expense of the fans who were going through the normal fan experience of buying a ticket for the show, and attending expecting only to enjoy a great concert . It's nothing like the $300 tickets for floor seats to the Rolling Stones, Springsteen's Ticketmaster debacle, where their subsidiary "re-sold" all the best seats, or ticket auctions that secure the first 15 rows to the highest bidders. Since only a few VIP tickets are being sold, and premium seating is still available through the usual methods, I don't have a problem with it. The fans have a choice, and that's how it should be.
So far, it seems that it's being handled the best way possible. Time will tell. I look forward to hearing from those of you who go through the VIP experience. I can't promise my jealousy won't get in the way of my happiness for you, but I'll try real hard to be supportive.

| Well I just thought it would be better choice than whine about Vip-ticket prices. Or when you're drunk it's helluva lot easier at least to try understand this hoopla of people trying to make a living and others not understanding that they are not forced to buy anything they don't want, need or can't afford. Go get a beer. Or ten , it helps. | |

| I only meant what I meant about the VIP packages. Nothing to do with the merch and all that, which I am happy they exist, as I buy them as a souvenir but some bands sell it at a high price.
This week I bought a Rockabilly Riot tee as I was at the Paris gig but I found the price too high, 35 Euro - at the Music Today store it was sold at 10 bucks (just to get rid of them) but if they can sell it at 10, they are still making good money! That's why I don't like, the rip off |

| This is only MY opinion but I think this VIP package subject has run it's course. A forum member is not present because of it and I think it's time to move on....drink up ...or both! Really guys........I know money is tough.........hell, I'm self employed but I can't work right now due to illness....so I'm hangin' in there as best I can. Times are tough for everyone.................but remember, you have an option on the VIP package. Personally, I think that's fair. It seems some people want to argue for the sake of arguing. I thought this was a Brian Setzer fan board. At least it used to be. Now it seems like it should be called "Brian Setzer HDVDL Forum: A Good Place To Rant And Rave." It's all entertainment. There are more important things in life that should be worried about, don't you think? Drink up!! | |

| By the way Andi, I thought you made some interesting and good contributions on what is essentially the intersection of art and commerce. Not to mention the display of your understanding of free market economies in your discussion of price points. | |

| At least we all now have a choice.......take it or leave it, its as simple as that.
I guess somewhere along the line we've all been guilty of stealing music art by copying & downloading to our computers & mp3 players so maybe this meet & greet is a good way of recouping some of that stolen music monies by our favourite artists....its bad enough for them having to battle with record labels and the B@lls up they have made with the record industry.
....Maybe thats why BS has distanced himself from the official website. Create a rare commodity thats in big demand....its simple economics SUPPLY & DEMAND.

CMUK I think this is why Tommy lost his job it was the music player. Tommy put up a load of albums one every week at one point, one or two very rare one's aswell and quite a few mystery tracks he used to keep us waiting with baited breath for remember ? well anyone with file grabber software was able to grab and download whatever was in the music player. and I suppose this was a big loss to Brians and Surfdogs pocket because thousands of people all around the world stole this stuff and then shared it with everyone else.

| My view on the VIP packages? It's like the people that complain about porn and swearing on TV.....Then don't f$$@in watch it!!! If you want the ultimate Brian Setzer package then pay your dollar. If not let the man do his business and watch from your normal seat! Regards Steve Plain English Society | |

Rakin' and Scrapin'-billy Hey Rickabilly lol ha ha ha am bursting my sides laughing here funnyguy, you'r never going to let me forget that one are you eh.....! ha ha well I never really defended myself before when you noticed it was The Rakes that were doing the tour, but any way Iam now, so listen and listen carefully. My friend called me and told me Straycats were doing a tour of the uk, he said he had read it in a music magazine (Record Collector). I then stupidly In my exitement posted what he told me on here ,then people In here began posting notes of causion fare play I could understand that, they wanted proof so I then posted the name of the magazine the issue no" and a link to the website hopeing some techy person in here could open at the page with the tour info, that did'nt happen so I then went over to my friends and got the magazine. now when I looked at the tour page all the bands were highlighted in brighter print ,( but not the Rakes ) now I was hopeing that someone on this forum either had the mag or could open it on the web and post a link, anyhow that was not to be but I posted what I saw in front of me, but and a big BUT I posted exactly what was written but NOT exactly the way It was written. Now when yourself Rickabilly read what I posted the way I posted It,It was obviouse. But If I had posted it exactly the way it was written In the mag ie ( N0 HIGHLIGHTS) then It would not have been so obviouse unless you new The Rakes were a band. Rest my case the glove's are off now glad I got that off my chest

| Man, I totally feel for you on that misunderstanding. People got so excited 'bout those dates for a day or two...
I thought your suggestion that the music player had anything to do with T's exit was pretty humorous, so I thought I would add a silly and equally improbable theory to the mix.
All you had was your friend's word over the phone for a day, so I'm sure your excitement played tricks on your eyes.
You'll get your dates soon - I hope.
