Thought anybody with a Roland 201 (and maybe the other models as well?) might be interested...

That adjustment for hiss was just in the tape section of these multi effect boxes, it doesnt remove it
from the preamp section. Regarding the Jfet mod, that is cool.. I just bought the NTE version to mod channel 3.... but I will say since I just had an EE redo the input of the Nocturn that problem is solved
too...

btw... The RE201 used alot of Carbon Comp resistors that add to the hiss along with cheap transistors
that were not quiet to begin with. The RE-301 switched to the op amps and carbon "film" resistors.. they
are quieter and resist temperature better so they dont drift in their values so easily.

The RE-301 is a much superior build in its amplification, but I think most enjoy the sound of the
RE-201 tape delay better. Probably because its closer to an echoplex in its sonic mojo "tape" wise?

How does the RE-101 compare?
I've seen these going a lot cheaper on Ebay than the 301..

its doesnt..not at all. Plus like I mentioned earlier, it used transistors
and carbon comp resistors instead of Carbon film resistors and opamps.
Headroom is low (distorts very easy, not that classic light clip of an RE-301) and sonically no comparison.

doesnt mean you cant have fun with it or enjoy it for other applications..but it doesnt go into setzer territory ...not even
radiohead territory like the 201
