here is a Canada dry commercial, totally ridiculous but
of the times... at 0:49 / 2:31 in the commercial, they
do an upshot and leg spread in one frame and the polkadots
on the womans slacks are doubled up right at her crotch
to emulate..well you know...

Not trying to be perverted here, I just found this interesting as I studied this stuff as an art major at college.

Judging by the length of the Ad it was probably shown in the Cinema rather than Television...

Nothing wrong with being perverted TV , why my ancestry is awash with heroic individuals who were jailed for upholding their right to practise various perversions. Baaaa baaaa

Here in Spain we sometimes have problems with cetain ads and sometimes, they are removed for being considered too sexist.... we have passed from one side to another.... To be honest, I don't really understand why these adverts are removed because they are simply adverts and people can take them whatever they want to. Besides, many well known companies advertise themselves just for the people to remember them, just that.

Hey Tavo, can you tell us some more about other stuff in publicity that you have studied?? I have always found this stuff interesting, but what I've studied concerning advertising, has been how to dub/translate it.

I don't there's anything sexually subliminal about Ann Margaret! But yeah, I see it too, TV! The crotch shot is about as subtle as a jackhammer. As far as the nuances of the pattern of her suit, well, I must admit I was too busy examining other "nuances."

What about the soda bottle repeatedly "penetrating" the screen from below? What? They didn't have any stock footage of a train entering a tunnel?

As if having Ann Margaret cooing through a 2 1/2 minute ad wasn't enough! Ann Margaret, pre-Tommy... verah niiiiiiiice.

Still not craving Canada Dry, though.

From an advertising perspective, I find the lyrics of the jingle much more interesting than the use of sexual imagery. "I'm the soft drink expert, I know what's cool, I know what's hip." (Not "I know what tastes great and/or is good for you!")

Ah, how drink commercials have changed. I guess beer ads have taken over as purveyors of sexy and cool. Still the same tactics, just... way, way moreso.

See, now I've just listened to the lyrics of the Ann Margaret ad, and it ruined it for me.
