Just as the topic title says, post some songs that you would love to hear Brian Setzer cover. Could be anything, for a solo record, orchestra, or good ol’ rockabilly (hey, there’s a Rockabilly Riot, Vol. 1, so why not a Vol. 2? ).
So I’ll get things going with one of my favorite songs, and it currently won’t leave my head: “Rock It To The Moon” by Jackie Gotroe and The Scamps.
I’ll post some more songs, once I have the time.
Oh, I’m new to this site (can’t ya tell?), so hello.

Oh, that's a very interesting topic!!
I always wanted Setzer to make a live version of some of the album guest apperarances he has recorded or some of the songs written for OSTs.
I have the following collaborations in mind, since they are my favourites: * Mystery Train: Don't Say Goodbye * Bobby & The Midniters: Rock In The 80s * Fastball: Love Is Expensive And Free * Dani Hicks: Meet Me On The Corner * Paul Rodgers: I Can't Be Satisfied
As for OSTs and other works: * Bodhisattva * Everybody Wants To Be A Cat * 16 Candles
And other versions... Sweetie Pie by Eddie Cocrhan would be a luxury together with Gene Vincent's Jezebel

Given that Setzer has a big band at hand, I would have loved to hear the BSO's version of this one:

Real cool songs. I would love to hear a sort of jazz/swing tribute record with the big band, maybe with songs from Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Cab Calloway (although, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy just released a Calloway tribute album), you know, standard swing guys. Definitely include some Irving Berlin and Cole Porter songs.
I'm kind of surprised that Setzer hasn't done Gene Vincent's "Wedding Bells." I can see that being done with the big band, or just Brian and his guitar.
A little off topic, but what the hell: I read in an interview a long time ago that Brian did quite a bit of recordings with the big band (and I'm sure with his other projects as well, too) of songs that didn't make it to any albums. I wonder what songs those would be. Maybe there could be a compilation of unreleased songs, that would be cool.

I'd love to hear Stray Cats record and release 'Seven Nights To Rock'. Also, I think Brian, in rockabilly mode, pref. with Jim and Lee! ;-) , would be great on 'Mean Woman Blues' and in either format I'd love to hear him take on 'Who Will The Next Fool Be?', a jazz interp. would be really interesting to hear!

I'm thinking of some Conway Twitty songs that The Brian could have fun with:
It's Only Make Believe Danny Boy I Vibrate From My Head to my Feet

Do you know, that there is a Brian Setzer Version of Danny Boy??? It's never been released, but appeared in the movie "the great white hype" You can listen to it here: http://www.euronet.nl/users/ndlanker/brian/mtvapp.htm

If he would have just stayed in Croon mode it would have been incredible!! I like the Pogues version best. And that brings me to..Brian needs ta doo a proper dubliners project.

Except for the croonin' Bigband stuff, I could imagine Setzer doin' a pretty good Job on this one:

Sad to say but most of the suggestions are way too obvious. No artistical challenge etc. I like the idea on Brian & guitar the most.
My list? No, I have no ideas this time, Setzer originals will do just fine.

no one upholds his artistical challenges like Wolfgang? Rockin by myself was not too exciting as a recording. If he released a Video of stuff like the VH1 clips that would be cool.

How about Rockabilly Riot Vol 2 - but concentrating on all the truly great rockabilly songs that were basically one hit wonders - Love Me -The Phantom, Black Slacks, Bip A Little, etc -trawl through any decent rockabilly comp and you'll find loads of candidates that would work really well in the hands of el sezterino.
